Edward Snowden, the former NSA contractor who blew the whistle on the massive spying program being used against American citizens, has been officially charged with the crime of espionage. If convicted he could spend up to 10 years in prison.

Exactly, but that is what happens when government stops serving its rightful purpose of establishing reasonable conditions under a binding contract (i.e., the Constitution) and becomes a club (in the sense both of a social organization and a weapon) for the most politically connected.

That's an interesting point. I wonder if he had leaked it to the American press if he'd have a solid defense based on the info being in the "national interest?"
