Does anyone else find it ironic that the government is upset about having its privacy violated for violating OUR privacy? :dunno:

Exactly, but that is what happens when government stops serving its rightful purpose of establishing reasonable conditions under a binding contract (i.e., the Constitution) and becomes a club (in the sense both of a social organization and a weapon) for the most politically connected.

Is everyone really that surprised the government has been listening in our lives?

No, but somewhat surprised that it would double down rather than at least make a pretense of straightening up and be so brazen about doing so.

He did technically leak this to the foreign press right? Is he guilty via a technicality though his reasoning was spot on??? We will probably never find out.

That's an interesting point. I wonder if he had leaked it to the American press if he'd have a solid defense based on the info being in the "national interest?"
