See what happens when people have the freedom to move out of a city?
If these serfs were attached to the land and chained in the factories so they COULDN'T leave, Detroit would have been fine.

I can't watch the video right now, but I'll hazard to guess that she's confusing government being too small with running out of other people's money.

Statist is about the politest thing I'd ever call her. Disgusting suckbag socialist who would see our children become property of the State is a little more fitting, I think... even if it's essentially the same thing you called her. She truly brings the bile to the back of my throat.

Harris-Perry is living in the typical Liberal Bizarro world. War is Peace. Freedom is Slavery. Ignorance is Strength.

A government small enough to drown in a bathtub is not a government with so large a government workforce with such huge pensions that it collapses under their very weight.

A government small enough to drown in a bathtub is not a government with so much bureaucratic and spending inertia that it can't moderate itself over the course of a 50 year slide in its tax base.

A government small enough to drown in a bathtub is not a government with so much untennable debt that its bankruptcy is the largest in American history.

A government small enough to drown in a bathtub is not a government with…

Someone else take over. This sounds like a "You might be a redneck, if…" running gag.

The people that write this kind of tripe can not be complete idiots even though they sound like absolute morons. That leads me to believe that they have nefarious motives for writing this crap. Part of the Democrat party's agenda to destroy the Republic and build a socialist state out of the ashes.

The Constitution doesn't prohibit this as evidenced by the fact that it was done until sometime post-FDR at which activist judges discovered some previously hidden prohibition (in addition to the fact that nowhere in the Constitution will you find such a prohibition).

Thought I quoted TopDog on this. Meant to. TD hit the nail and gets the rep. Although IndyDave1776's comment was also good.

Nine times out of ten, IndyDave pretty much reads my mind.
I guess I could let him be my semi-official spokesman.

Dave, you up for the job?

It sure would save me a lot of time posting!

I don't find labor to be either cruel or unusual.
It's been done for centuries, if not longer, pretty much throughout the world.
The pyramids of Egypt were built using captive labor.
Chain gangs digging ditches were extremely common.

To the extent that you agree with the legitimacy of incarceration - opposed to execution or other punishments - I don't see why it would bother someone that inmates have muscles and the ability to do work "at a bare minimum of expense to Mr. and Mrs. John Q. Taxpayer," as the warden might say.

I read somewhere that Detroit has over 100,000 abandoned buildings.

Oh, I found it. Here's the link: Will Detroit Be the First Major U.S. City to be Abandoned?

To their way of thinking, she is right. By saying that government was too small, she is pointing out that such misery needs to engulf the whole country. We need a national socialist system (perhaps global under our friends at the UN if too many hateful selfish people try to flee the country) to truly make her system work.
