U.S. military strike in Somalia targeted al Shabaab leader | Reuters

An air strike in Somalia by U.S. armed forces targeted the leader of the Islamist militant group al Shabaab, Ahmed Abdi Godane, Somali and U.S. officials said on Tuesday, but they said it was unclear whether he was killed in the attack.

So, off the top of my head, there are crises in (in no particular order):
    - Ukraine
    - Israel
    - Iraq/Syria/Libya/IS
    - Nigeria (Boko Haram)
    - Afghanistan
    - Western Africa ebola outbreak

    And we're bombing... Somalia?

We've been taking out targets in Somalia for years. This is nothing new. Not sure why this is a headline.

correct, we have assets all over the globe conducting operations on a myriad of different time tables.

Some people would complain if it was sunny.

Perhaps but we've been doing this since Obama has taken office. It's fascinating what is old becomes new and new becomes old...the cycle of news life.

Sure, we've also put "boots on the ground" in Uganda. We have also bombed Yemen and Pakistan. And like I put the thread title, apparently those conflicts are higher priority than anything else in the world.

Violent deaths occur even in training. Just because the threat is low does not mean the risk is low. Yet, these are the conflicts that the current administration thinks are worthy of sacrifice.

Nothing new about the US being the bully of the world.

If someone else wants to step up, I'd be more than happy to let another country burn all of its war chest on defending the globe. Maybe we can stop funding the militaries of half a dozen other countries, the U.N., and half a dozen aid programs too while we're at it.

Way back in elementary school, I was always a big kid. Over 5' tall in 4th grade, 5'8"+ in 6th grade around 150#...big and affable, but willing to mix it up when I had to. As always, there were bullies in school, people who picked on those perceived weaker or with some random difference that made them a target. These target kids, seemed to end up being my friends. I never started anything and never picked on kids for fun. What I did do was confront bullies when they were just plain being mean for fun. I suppose the bullies thought I was the bully, a skewed and self-centered perspective to be sure, but one that worked in my favor, and in the favor of the real innocents.

The U.S. isn't perfect. Nothing in this world is. By and large, it has been a force for good against oppressors and if that means it's a bully, so be it.

Of course we have. That is a trouble spot uncomfortably close to his home.

(No, I do not believe that he is a proper natural-born citizen.)

Theres just no pleasing some people .... and nobody cares if someone on a message board thinks Obamas a natural born citizen or not ... especially at this point when that argument was hashed and rehashed for years when you should have been focusing on other things. Or wth, go hold your sign outside the white house for all i care.
