Noticed posts scattered through the forum and thought they should have a home.

My personal guess is that even though the governor is taking most of the flack in big media, there's plenty of blame to go around with administrative incompetence and corrupt contractors. The truth is out there....somewhere.:)

Big fail from Flint administrators all the way up to the top.

If Flint had kept it's economic house in order it would not have had an emergency manager. That being said, the EM cowboyed this fix just to save money, not because the switch to Flint River water was in any way better. He made this decision in a vacuum with almost no engineering or professional input and he felt confident in doing this because he was the governor's goto guy. There is plenty of blame to go around with a lot left over. Predict this guy is now radioactive. First rule of politics when it comes off the rails - push responsibility as far down the chain as you can and then burn them down

Plenty of blame to go around, but this much is certain:

Don't want outsiders running your city? Don't run it into the ground.

Flint voted in 2012 or 13 to build a pipeline for a more economical water source to Lake Huron because Detroit water costs had doubled in10 years. Detroit got pizzzed and cut them off early in 2014.Flint was at that point in a pickle. From there everything went south. The city of Detroit is slidding thru this and the media is covering for em.

    Shovel Ready?

So where are the photos of the backhoes and excavators digging up the old lead pipes and replacing them? Everyone is busy pointing fingers and making excuses but know one seems to be fixing the source of the problem. They should be able to investigate and fix the problem at the same time.

Read a rumor that Chicago may have a lead problem too (in the water in addition to flying through the air).

"The decision to switch the city of Flint’s drinking water source to the Flint River was pegged as a cost-cutting maneuver aimed at saving $5m over a two-year period. But almost two years and a massive lead contamination crisis later, that move and subsequent decisions not to treat the water supply already carry a financial price tag of $45m and climbing."

I think the backhoe operators and excavators are waiting for someone believable to step in with a checkbook. Flint was so strapped that they took this ill-advised step to save $2.5million per year. The numbers I'm seeing to fix those lead pipes are from $60million on the unrealistically low end to $700million to $1.5billion on the unrealistically high end. And Flint is the US infrastructure in microcosm

    Could be anywhere
The residents should have taken responsibility for their own lives. Nothing a Berkey filter couldn't have fixed. If you drink what the .gov is going to give you and you've elected people who could care less if you die as long as you vote for them and still don't take any responsibility for your own life then take what you get.
