Sarah Palin is a lightweight. A less-than-one-term governor of a state populated mostly by caribou and oil wells. Seriously, the mayor of Indianapolis is in charge of governing a larger population of people. I think (hope) that Trump is too smart to choose her for VP. He needs someone with a depth of political experience to contrast with his lack of political experience. Not Snowmobile Barbie.

Revisiting Palin reminds me of the issue of 'acting presidential'. In her case, I see a trend of her folksy ways being transferred to presumed ineptitude, and find myself considering the following:

    1. What is the value of 'acting presidential'. We had that shoved down our throats in 2008, that Obama looked and acted the part where Palin didn't (underscoring McStupid's irrelevance in his own run for president). We ended up with a 'presidential-acting' enemy of the republic doing everything possible to destroy the republic.

    2. It is easy to overlook that while Alaska's population may be small overall, oil companies are one of the most difficult special interests to reign in (which she succeeded at doing to a great extent in a short time), compounded with governing a state which has more federal control and intervention than anywhere else in the United States other than the District of Columbia and Johnston Atoll.

    3. It seems largely forgotten that she took office as governor in the midst of a culture of corruption and did much to clean it up in a short period of time.

    4. I can sympathize with her decision to resign, given that in typical 'liberal' fashion, she couldn't order lunch without a lawsuit challenging it as a matter of pure vindictiveness after she dared challenge the Anointed One. Not only was it a great expense, but also very trying at a personal level. By contrast, her replacement was of the same political bend and continued the same policies unmolested. I have to respect someone who will step aside for the purpose of the job getting done.

To me being "presidential" means carrying one's self with confidence, dignity, maturity, eloquence, honor. Obama is not that. I have never seen Obama as that. Sarah Palin is certainly not that. Neither is Trump. Neither is Hillary. Probably Bernie is kinda that, but then he's also a ****ing socialist. People can say what they want about Reagan, but he was one of the last great "presidential" presidents. I look at "presidential" as just another attribute in a long list of attributes a president should have. It's not the top one. Certainly if that's the only attribute a candidate is missing, other more important attributes would outweigh that one.

As for Sarah Palin, I just don't take her seriously. It's not that I think she's stupid. I think of her much like Trump, that she understands the culture of the base enough to know exactly what to say to make them support her. I think she is a scammer, just like I think Trump is a scammer. I don't trust her. I don't trust Trump. I'm only voting for Trump because I DO trust Hillary, that she will do exactly what she has promised. If Trump picked Palin as a running mate, well, there is a limit to my pragmatism. At that point all hope of a sane America is lost and I'd just write in a candidate.

So Trump needs an establishment, political insider then.

I like Sarah, but I don't think enough voters feel the same.
I honestly don't see Bernie as acting presidential. :dunno:
Whoever Trump picks will make or break his election chances.

I was a Palin fan for awhile. Even when she quit the governors office, I could rationalize it as ID1776 did above. But now, after watching her try to stay relevant as her star fades, I'm becoming more and more convinced she's in it to cash in and has been for awhile now. She's just sad now. Still pretty hot for us old guys but sad.

I don't think she was ever relevant but that's what I like/liked about her.
She wasn't/isn't your standard politician nor could she ever be. Would I cast my vote depending her being on the ticket? I doubt it but when I look at all the alternatives she's not that bad of a choice to vote for considering the field of nominees.
Yea, I still think she's "doable" but the daughter is hot. IF she has a twin sister I'm ordering champagne and roses to be sent that way.

I'll still give her a shot. There's just something about her that I'd like to get behind.

How many baby daddies does she have again? We'll I guess I should be happy that she has a family name to keep her employed, rather than sucking money out of my pocket as she keeps popping out kids out of wedlock.
