It is good to see Trump give a speech like that.

The other week I heard on the radio we are sending 200 SF soilders to Syria. I see no good reason for telling the world every mission our Special Forces goes on. There is no way it improves the chance of success to announce who, what, and where.

That was just one snippet that stuck out to me from a encouraging speech.

Agree 100% with not announcing publicly details about military actions. It seems like the element of surprise was one of the first things we covered in Military Science classes a long time ago. It is just so obvious that you don't reveal your plans in advance if you want to maximize the chances that you will be successful. It seemed like President Bush announced every day for weeks that we were about to invade Iraq, telegraphing our intentions in the most obvious fashion.

Not ex military but talked to a few. Was told never ask about numbers because that is high on the list of SF rules of things not to talk about.
