Have no fear. A class of "trapped customers" has been created, like shooting fish in a barrel. I suspect eventually, once enough insurers have gotten out, competition has dwindled, and premiums have increased sufficiently, plenty of profit will be made off those customers.

It's guaranteed loot for somebody, whichever insurer can stay in the longest and outwait the others for the last remaining musical chair. That will be a prime piece of real estate, because they will have earned the exclusive right to sell to customers who 1) are required by law to pay, 2) have nowhere else to go, and 3) will ultimately be subsidized by the taxpayer.

I find it difficult to believe something will actually, totally fail, when the taxpayer is ultimately on the hook for it.

First, I agree that the ACA is bad law. Not only doesn't it fix the problems it was supposed to, in fact it can only make it worse.

...but (and with me, you knew there was a "but")...

...even without the ACA the American healthcare system is headed for crisis, and by some metrics is already there. Our system was already the most expensive on Earth, with results no better than far more affordable systems elsewhere...in some ways, worse.

What is the Republican's plan? Stand back and profit from other people's misery brought about by the status quo.

That's why we are in this ACA mess at all...people are fed up with the status quo, and Obama had a plan to do something.

Well, here's your chance Republican's...offer us something better.

Obama has forced us to buy this crap, what's preventing him from forcing United Healthcare to sell it? It's all smoke & mirrors bull****, why allow a corporation to stop the party?

Well, in my experience, what many of us had was fine. If this ACA was so great, why were the Republicans totally excluded from the whole deal? We didn't hear about a mass exodus of doctors exiting medicine back then. Is it not true that the majority of people now insured are insured because of Medicaid expansion that all of us are paying for?

This whole fiasco was simply a push by the libs for socialism.

My plan, although I'm not an establishment Republican; let the free market operate.

What we're starting to see is hospital conglomerates moving to becoming the provider as well as the insurer.

Then, there's the whole matter of doing something legal.
If you're going to do it, do it right.
Make an amendment authorizing the Feds to do it.

Well, I'll have you know that there is a little thing called the Supreme Court of the United States of America and they will step right in and put the kybosh to all this unconstitutional nonsense and another thing . . .

    *phone rings*

What? They did what now? Constitutional? How? Unbelievable!

    Nevermind.

Some day I'll regale my grandchildren of the days when I was allowed to buy the health insurance I wanted that only covered what I wanted it to and didn't cover anything I didn't need...and cost much less.

...and they'll whisper to my kids: "bad news...grandpa's gone round the bend."

Anthem still has over 90%, soon to be a monopoly and of course rates will continue to rise. Everyone said they would - everyone not in a political position that is.

Actually, everyone not a Democrat. It was passed strictly along party lines.
