That's pretty funny. The Republicans, including the Governor, are willing to increase some taxes if they get cuts. The Democrats, in control of the legislature, are willing to raise taxes, but no cuts.

That is the sum of why Illinois hasn't had a budget in nearly 3 years. That and the Democrats are mad that they have a Republican Governor and don't want him to be able to claim any sort of victory.

Two weekends ago I helped a friend from Chicago look at property in Tippecanoe County. He cried/laughed when I answered his questions regarding property taxes.

He won't be the only one to leave the burning ship.

For years I have (half) jokingly called for the secession and combining of Western Kentucky, SE Illinois and SW Indiana into a new state. We will thumb our noses at Chicago/Indianapolis/Louisville-Lexington and call ourselves Lincoln. Why not, he was born in that part of KY, grew up in SW IN and started lawyerin in IL.

We will control the Ohio & Mississippy rivers, hage plenty of farm land, medium to heavy industry, coal and oil and Crane NSW. :rockwoot:

Maybe if Indiana absorbs part of Illinois they will start driving the speed limit on 65. Or at least 10mph over the posted limit like the average driver speeds...

    We don't need this.
Besides, who would want Chicago? That's where most of the problem is coming from. Put it in another jurisdiction, and you just outsourced that problem.

How about raise the friggin taxes up high enough to pay for all the goodies everyone wants.
the taxes on EVERYONE. Not the rich. Not the poor. Not the middle class. EVERYONE!

If you want this benefit... well it costs $$$

Nobody. Easy. Bulldoze the city into the lake, or dig a moat from Whiting to Kenosha and turn it into a prison. Problem solved.
