Based on a suggestion from another thread, I am opening this thread for the discussion of how INGO users view our current president, Donald J. Trump. This is an attempt to keep the more topical threads on track.

Anything goes here, lads! This is the place for hyperbole, fanboy-ism, Godwin's law, and general Feelz before Realz...

Paul it's your thread but I wished you had used a word other than Messiah...To many folks that word means something else and in keeping with the "render unto Caesar that which is Caesar's" regarding politics I think using a religious term to define an elected official may be taken wrong by some...I know what you meant and know you mean nothing by it but putting a loaded religious term into a discussion on politics in the OP may steer the conversation in a way you did not intend...

I like what Trump is doing....In re he has no affect on the economy I can speak from personal experience that my wife and I spent $80,000 on land we would not have bought if he would have lost...There is a "Trump Bump" in the economy IMHO.....

I'll start with this- the fact that many media outlets unfairly attack him with non-factual allegations does not transform anything he does into the smartest more wonderful thing any president has ever done.

There's room enough for untrue accusations and pomposity that results in ineffective leadership.

There isn't a toggle switch where you have to be with the attackers 100% or with Trump 100%.

    This one's a dimmer switch.

Ah, so Trump is just like a religion. Now I know why someone would use Messiah in the first place. Ignore all else because after all it just cant be true even when coming directly from the horses mouth.

Pretty basic for me, don't care for his personality but there it is. Love how he gets the libs worked up. Love the Gorsuch appointment. Look forward to him doing his best to protect us, reverse socialism, and oh yeah, get the libs worked up.

That's it for me. We can now sit back and watch Dddrees dominate the thread. 1,2,3...

Indy, I understand your point, and I think it has merit.

I used that term deliberately. There are people out there comparing Trump literally to Jesus.

This is ridiculous, it should be ridiculed...not least by Christians themselves. This imagery exists because "Christians" spread it.

I take your critique seriously. The title stands. I hope this doesn't drive a wedge between us.

You don't think he has s valid point?

Much of Trump's support mirrors religious reverence. It isn't befitting a bureaucrat, but the most influential voices from the right remain silent.

It becomes religious like when his followers in the face of all that is factual says he's a serial liar yet his believers believe differently.

I'm not sure that support of any other president, or presidential candidate, doesn't also mirror religious reverence, though that reverence might be expressed differently by people of different political "denominations".

And, besides, if it's only the Trump supporters who look at him like the mesiah, why is that so many on the other side would like to see him crucified?

I've seen right here in the political subforum. Maybe not a literal comparison to Jesus, but the idea that Trump has done and can do no wrong. Mostly predicated, I surmise, on the hatred for his enemies, leftist, Democrat and Republican alike, more than anything else.

It would be a mistake, however, to assume all Trump supporters are fanatics in this way. I consider myself a Trump supporter in that I voted for him, I do not regret that vote, he has the potential to do good things and he is the duly elected President of the United States. As can be seen in numerous places, however, I'm not a fanboy in the least and several things about him I find frustrating and wasteful of the opportunities given him. I imagine there are a great many people who share similar thoughts.

Cant speak for anyone else but it's not only because I find him to be so objectionable as a human being, but I also find how he goes about it to be as equally if not more so. Wild a** claims about how easy things are and the fact that he claims to be such an expert when he doesn't have any concept of the subject matter in the first place is entirely absurd. Then again his policy of America First and isolationism I find to be completely wrong headed. So as the latest leak points out he's nothing more than a charlatin.

I do not think that was posted by A Christian but an anti-Chistian or athiest to lampoon both Christianity and Trump.

I am not an influential voice from the rihgt but I can assure you that as a Christian I am opposed to making Trump out to be any more than a man.

I have no idea what your opinion of the left making Obama out tobe the mesiah, but I was also opposed to that.

It doesn't drive a wedge between us bro...But I do believe I am going to stay out of the thread from here on out...Maybe the whole political forum for a bit...I get up in the am and hear NPR and George Stepanopoulos trashing the president and then come on here to have it regurgitated back at me verbatim from my fellow Hoosiers...It doesn't make me mad but it does make me question my constant desire to NOT live in an echo chamber...24/7 of "Trump Sucks" can even make a fair minded fellow as myself long for an echo chamber...I even had a guy from Illinois that just moved to Kentucky come in the other day and bash Trump for two hours.....I can tolerate Joy Bahar's and Barbara Streisand's but only for so long....

So I am going to change the channel and get back to the echo chamber...If only for an hour or so....Listening to MSM and NPR is exhausting....

But no brother....I don't do wedges and I reach out the most to those I disagree with the most...I spend a lot of time responding to PM's along the lines of "but...but...How come you like (insert any of a dozen names here) when you all disagree?"

    "Exactly..."

    "That doesn't make any sense.."

    "It does to me...."

And then I cue up Sly....:)

    Good luck to you Paul!

Maybe this thread experiment will work out as well as Kut's and 1DOWN4UP's attempts to keep all the horse:poop: corralled into one thread vs running into ALL of the rest of the politics forum? Oh wait...
