Google isn't an arm of the govt. Google fired an employee because that's their right.

Use company resources, and presumably company time, to violate company rules? That's not a free speech issue.

Thirded. This is NOT a free speech issue.

And, much like people crying "racism" when there isn't any waters down actual racism, crying Free Speech violations when there aren't any only serve to water down the REAL infringements of Free Speech.

As an aside, the entire Spanish language is cysgender oppression. Having to choose between male and female words? PREPOSTEROUS!

But yeah- headline: Large company takes the politically safest decision. SHOCKING

He blew the whistle that a Silicon Valley corporate giant is deeply entrenched in the uber PC, multigendered, but deny all gender roles, universe?

    Again, big whoop.

If that's the sandbox you wanna play in, best to keep your head down, and keep any unpopular opinions to yourself.

    Not a free speech issue.

This is a "Google is a giant hypocrite" issue. They claim to value diversity and open dialog, but then fire people who don't align with their ideology and call them out for being hypocrites.

    His firing proves his point.

By corroborating rumors that women aren't allowed to play in the boys' club.

By bashing the employer's attempts to make the work place more friendly to women and stating women are biologically unsuited for the work and are neurotic? I don't follow.

    This.

They're often bench marked as some special company to work for. And there may be creature comfort perks for working for them. But when it comes down to it, they're really not all that different.

This is where a PC culture and the "everyone's opinion is equally valid" claptrap clash. It's kind of entertaining.

Anyone with half a brain should have seen the firing as inevitable....but in a world where everyone has to stop and pretend that every word anyone says is oh-so special, you get people who are unfamiliar with the term "consequences".

We can debate whether he has some academic point forever, but the truth of the matter is that when making hiring decisions, what may or may not be accurate for a population is irrelevant. They question is whether the person sitting across the desk packs the gear. You don't find that out by making broad generalizations.
