At a dui checkpoint, as this is a "casual encounter" do I have to show my Drivers license or LTCH? Do I even have to roll down my window? Just curious.

Is this a hypothetical, or did this happen, or is one being proposed near you?

    If in doubt, comply.

It depends. You technically are required to HAVE a license to not be guilty of driving with no/suspended license BS. So I'd say show your license/registration. Nothing else.

    <---- not an LEO.

Yes, you do. However, you can do what I choose to do and turn off before the checkpoint.

Penner decision says presence of weapon not cause for stop... so maybe time for the same with driving. (aware of rights vs privileges)

They cannot "make" you do anything, but they sure as hell can make you wish you had. If there is anything done at a sobriety checkpoint that is out of the narrow boundaries established by Indiana law, the Indiana case law, and federal case law (4th Amendment search and seizure), the sobriety checkpoint is generally not the place to take it up. File the complaint later. Refuse to comply at the checkpoint at your peril. You had best be very, very certain you are on completely solid legal ground and can PROVE that later.

I had a cop pull me over for doing a legal u-turn because "that's what people up to no good do when they see a squad car". I wish I was older and wiser then instead of 17.

I believe official INGO procedure is crack your window, hold your cell phone up to record the officer and shriek in a high pitched voice “am I being detained? Am I free to go?”
