    I don't even know where to begin. Blue helmets under UN command have a long history of not accomplishing anything except sucking at peacekeeping. The UN needs to stick to handing out food and fighting disease outbreaks.

    Foreign forces on US soil operating independently? Oh hell no. I think Chicago won't get fixed without a lot of help, and it won't come wearing those damn blue berets and helmets.

    President Donald Trump’s implicit threat to put the National Guard on the streets of Chicago to tackle the city’s violence problem attracted widespread ridicule earlier this year.

    But if the soldiers were instead wearing the sky blue helmets of United Nations peacekeepers there might not be such a problem, according to Cook County Commissioner Richard Boykin, who flew to New York on Thursday to discuss what he described as a “quiet genocide” in Chicago’s black community with the U.N.’s assistant secretary-general for peacebuilding support, Oscar Fernandez-Taranco.

    I’m talking about whoever the U.N. would decide to send in,” Boykin responded, adding, “I think that the assistant secretary-general may have some ideas outside of sending in troops. He may have some ideas about how we get to peace in these communities.
    “We can’t wait for the mayor to put another 1,000 police officers on the streets, and I’m not so sure that’s going to be the panacea, anyhow,” said Boykin, who added that he wanted local officials to sit down together to come up with a solution.

    They need to really admit to what the problem is, but in today's politically correct society that would be impossible.

    Rahm Emanuel is evil.

    Any apparent concern he shows over the situation in Chicago is based entirely on how he and his associates can benefit, usually at the expense of someone else.

    Of course Chicago wants the UN:
    Corrupt bureaucracy ? Check!
    Decades old machine designed to keep those in power, in power? Check!
    Payoffs? Check!
    Incredibly incompetent in protecting those who need protection the most? Check!

    Chicago political machine IS the UN!!

    I can't help but notice that you seem to subscribe to the notion. INGO isn't politically correct, so why are you being timid about telling us what the problem is? :dunno:

    They'd probably be better for the population than Jon Burge was.

    In fact, if INGO really thinks about this, it might be a pathway to a win-win.

    Downstate Illinois is full of people who hate Chicago as much as we do. In fact, alot of them are alot like Hoosiers. Perhaps a deal could be brokered:
    - Indiana gets to annex the lower 2/3 of the state;
    - Chicago and the northern third becomes an autonomous region;
    - We could build a wall and make Chicago pay for it;
    - The UN could keep the peace in the Autonomous Region of Chicago.

    Any objections?

    The "indigenous personnel" in South Chicago would annihilate the U.N. troops in about 2 days. We're talking about CHICAGO! Bring lots of body bags. You could televise the carnage live with Geraldo Rivera and Jerry Springer. Call the Antifa kids up and tell them a bunch of fascists with blue helmets are in town. Put it on Youtube. Market a video game about it.

    It's silly to think that a UN peacekeeping operation could happen in the US without the consent of the US government.
    Some folks just don't understand how the UN works and what their capabilities are.

    The UN Security Council has to approve peacekeeping operations and the US is a member of that council with veto powers.
    So the US can deny any peacekeeping operations in any country, including its own county.

    Plus over 28% of the budget for UN peackeeping operations is provided by the US.

    So no foreign country is sending tanks and troops to Chicago unless the US ask for it and pay for most of it.
