Been working a lot of hours, and just popped in to see how the General Political Discussion Forum was going. After looking through several threads, it is easy to see that everyone has been busy. The overall tone reminds me of a hard core political debate in the British Parliament. It is interesting to see how passionate we get over political issues. As a political junkie, we certainly live in interesting times.

I think it's nice that there is somewhere that I can see actual debate going on. It devolves at times and I'm not deluded into thinking that we actually have in-depth knowledge, but it is still better than what I generally see elsewhere, which is either endless "preaching to the choir" or name-calling and straw-man arguments.

This. When I have to debate similar points in the wild, my facts are clear in my mind and my arguments polished so I am as effective as I can be. It definitely has some value beyond its arena
