This is one thing that I always thought was strange about airports and other places that sell magazines.

There will be porn there, covered, but there, yet no gun magazines or just 1 or 2.

A friend of mine flew back in January and took a picture for me, the porn was covered on the second to top shelf, gun mags were on the top shelf and covered, not sure which airport it was but this seems pretty common

An overpriced device that you can get the same info for free online and possibly better quality.

The term "print" should be somewhere in that description. Also, age should be involved in the description. It's an overpriced print medium which was, before the digital age, the most economical way to get detailed information on specialized subjects.

Before the digital age, the magazine racks extended nearly from one end of an isle to the other. And you'd see at least a few people browsing magazines at a given time. Now, maybe 20 linear feet if that, and I can't remember the last time I saw someone actually browsing through a magazine.

My mother in law is the only person I know who actually has a print magazine subscription. She's afraid of technology. We bought her an iPad for Christmas one year and she's still afraid of it. She mostly uses it to play solitaire. I set up email for her, and shortly after she thought she needed to take the iPad in for service, because she kept getting her email password wrong (caps matter). Until those people die off who can't understand the digital universe--not meaning that disparagingly, just making the point--print magazines will still have a reason to exist.

I'm only 39 but I am finding that I must be an older soul. In the last week, I have come to the conclusion I must be part of a dying breed.
I had to go for some training last week at work and some of the new technology and some stuff right around the corner blows my mind ( automotive technology). I'm old school, give me a carburetor and some sort of HEI distributor and I am happy...the instructor said I am a dying dinosaur. Anyway back on topic, I was thumbing through a couple magazines at meijer last night while the wife was getting some other stuff. I even still drop coin on magazines occasionally. And yes, I still subscribe to a few magazines. National dragster, race pages, fastest streetcar, 1st freedom (NRA), American handgunner.

Churchmouse- is this what it's like to feel old??

Can't scare the soccer mom's while they're shopping. Dont think I've ever bought a gun magazine. I still get Hot Rod Magazine and a street rod magazine that the NSRA puts out.

Ran through JayC tonight(division of Kroger)...gun mags gone except for 'Tactical Life' or something. Not sure why that one was still there...but may be a fluke as I'm not sure if it was immeditate or 'as they are sold off'.

Check out at Kroger with their new fully-semi-automatic-self-check-out counters. You can ring up roughly 2 1/2 items per minute before a store clerk halfway across the store is notified that you need assistance.

I wonder if this will result in some gun owners filling their carts to the brim, thenafter asking an employee why you can't find your gun magazine, leaving the full cart but explaining why....

    Could be anywhere
I've never seen anyone buy a magazine at Kroger, no one is ever in that aisle. Seems like a waste of space to me. I've seen some people pick up the point of sale rags to browse through while waiting for their turn in checkout but those usually go back on the rack when their turn comes.

I quit shopping at Krogers LONG ago. They give you a survey that HAS TO BE written by a P.C. woman "DID OUR STORE APPEAL TO YOUR SENCE OF SMELL AND FEELINGS?"

You KNOW that anyone who wants to know about your FEELINGS and EMOTIONS of a dammed grocery is a flaming Liberal.

I think I'd want to answer that one:

    E) fill in the blank: No. It's a good thing when I don't notice the smell of a store. Because if the smell catches my attention, it's probably rat ****. And if I smelled rat ****, I'd have already been in your manager's face.

I made a stand against gun magazines 3 or 4 years ago. I haven't seen an actual review of a firearm in nearly a decade. Everything is soo good, guns and ammo, rifleman, etc always up talking crummy firearm released. All of the articles are bought and paid for advertisements, which a reader then pays the publisher for opportunity to read these long form advertisements. Gun magazine industry has killed itself by selling out completely. I cant recall the last time I read a true review. I'm sure the selling of these magazines accounts for little to no profit, but it is free advertising when people write about their "stand". Want to quit killing people stop selling candy and frozen foods pumped with preservatives. Stop selling coffee that is harvested through exploited labor. I believe obesity is a much larger problem facing our youth than gun magazines.
