Well, by golly, ya' better pay attention when the IRS agent calls and tells you to get some prepaid VISA cards to pay your delinquent taxes. Government agency with criminal investigation branch has lots of guns and ammo. Who woulda' thought? Wonder if they have a couple of MRAPs, too.

What does the Dept of Health & Human Services need with 194 Machine guns and almost 400,000 rounds of ammo for them??? A dept. that's over Medicare, Medicaid and children's health needs 4 times the number of machine guns and ammo for them than the IRS has. Sounds odd to say the least.

I kinda wonder how much of this actually exists where they say it does. "hey, we're going to buy a bunch of arms for... um... the IRS! Yeah, that's the ticket!" and they end up in the hands of black ops, etc types.

IRS planning for a bunch of raids this tax season? Nope, just a show of force to scare us evil middle class people into paying our unfair share of taxes.

Well we know the IRS has still been targeting Tea Party groups. I seem to have heard some radio story about it just a few weeks ago.

    .
I just don't get the case for every alphabet agency to have it's own armed agents.

Are you saying that I shouldn't have full auto weapons or the correct ammo to send rounds downrange?

No, everyone needs to stay in their lanes. By this "we all need big guns" logic because they want to be self sufficient, they need a LOT more resources:

They need their own jails to lock up their offenders.
They need their own courts to convict their offenders.
They need their own ambulances for injuries during raids.
They need their own firetrucks in case their flash bangs/smoke grenades light the property on fire.
    etc
    etc
    etc

How about we all stay in our lanes and leave the heavy lifting to the pros? I'm not necessarily against some of them having pistols. But to say each of these alphabet soups needs their own class 3 stuff for raids is ridiculous. Coordinate between federal law enforcement agencies and local LEOs for the win. Need to raid the place? Call the US Marshals or FBI to execute the building clearing, and then once they are done you can walk in (unarmed) and collect your particular evidence.

We need well defined agencies that do what they do best, and work across the lines to get the resources they need from other agencies who also do what they do best.

This brings two things to mind:

    1) Given your points about inter-agency efforts, perhaps they don't want to have to justify their selection of targets or be questioned on the legality of the raid (such as having a valid warrant). Think about the behavior of Lerner as agency head, perhaps the insistence on following the law by the pros would be an inconvenience

    2) This is exactly why citizens also need access to class III hardware, and indeed why the NFA needs to be done away with. The danger presented by actual criminals using full auto is FAR outweighed by the danger of out-of-control government trampling the rights of its citizens.

Since federal Police entities are not the Military and therefore civilians?
Agents of the government aren't civilians IMO. I'm talking Joe blow.
They blur the lines with legal mumbo jumbo. You have city police officers who are also deputized feds too. That's bull ****.
In today's society to me there is no difference between a local cop or a fed. They could be one in the same and you'd never know it

These same stories were circulated when Obama was president. If you do the math, that is roughly 1,100 rounds per weapon. That doesn't sound like an outrageous amount. The United States Government is huge, so many things are purchased in large numbers. The post office bought 700,000 ball point pens last year. Obviously they are gearing up to run the FEMA internment camps and will need pens to do the paperwork....:):
