Since this thread was so popular last time, here's another for 2020.

Kamala Harris has officially announced that she'll run for President in 2020.

Kamala Harris to run for president in 2020

Other major Democrats that have announced their candidacy are Julian Castro, John Delaney, and [STRIKE]Richard Ojeda[/STRIKE][SUP]1[/SUP], Cory Booker.

Is Fauxcahontas not on your list because she's not major, because she has only formed an exploratory committee and not stated she's running (I think), or both

    .
Maybe the DNC will go all out on asset confiscation and redistribution in it's platform next year. Strip the old people of their 401Ks and give it to the illegals. I remember George McGovern's plan to take $1K from every body above the national average and give it to everybody below the national average. That rather large segment of the population just over the line didn't feel interested in participating in his government enforced philanthropic ideas.

We will no doubt hear much about the "first woman of color" to have a shot at POTUS and how wonderful it is. Forget she is a dyed in the wool liberal socialist from California who would do her best to make us the next Venezuela. IIRC she replaced Barbara Boxer in the Senate. Boxer was/is an arrogant self important socialist of the highest order. Recall that she told a military officer to address her a Senator and not Madam. Harris apparently seeks to be a carbon copy of her predecessor.

Of course whoever runs as a Dem will not be acceptable to me because of their beliefs. Hang on folks.

I'll be curious to see how the primary develops. Most of the candidates will be coached to use the safe "orange man bad" approach by their handlers, but as the race moves on how will they distinguish themselves from the rest of the 10-15 people saying the same thing. Maybe this will be a campaign of trying to "out left" the competition until clinton starts campaigning and they are faced with supporting her or annihilation by big money and big media.

Camille Paglia (a progressive if there ever was one) has lamented that the Orange Man Bad tactic will be worthless, and lead to Trump's re-election.

    She's probably right.

Of course, that assumes Trump is in office and decides to run again. ;) We're now at the point where Pence can move up and still run 2x.

It will be fascinating to watch the Dems fracture like the GOP did. My biggest curiosity is whether it will be along similar lines.

    Spectator Index already predicting:

    Kamala Harris: 25%
    Beto O'Rourke: 20%
    Joe Biden: 17%
    Bernie Sanders: 13%
    Elizabeth Warren: 10%
    Other: 15%

I'm also noticing the typical "journalists" are going all-in for Harris. Already some really "culty" and worshipy sort of posts. Guess we'll always do the cult-of-personality candidate, every election.

This gives everyone the chance to start fund raising early so she can amass the largest bank balance possible. I fully suspect she absolutely knows she has no chance of winning, but taking this position early on gives her more name recognition and, thus, greater influence within the party.

Indiana mayor Pete Buttigieg announces 2020 exploratory committee

A Navy Reserve veteran, Buttigieg deployed to Afghanistan for seven months during his first term as mayor. He would also be the first openly gay president.

    check them boxes

Bunch of "journalists" are saying he's the first openly gay presidential candidate.

He's not the first openly gay candidate for president—not even the first openly gay candidate for president running for a major party nom.

Depending on how you view James Buchanan (Democrat), that boat already made it to harbor.
