You are right. I have never missed an election in all my life until yesterday. Had plans to but something same up and it totally slipped my mind.

Our polling machines have once again been upgraded for yesterday's election at exorbitant co$t. As we have open polls across the County, a terminal is required to print scannable paper ballot for each voter to instruct the next terminal encountered to produce screen to display the correct list of candidates/ballot referendums for each voter upon insertion. Once vote has been cast at the second terminal across the room, the voter then removes same original ballot(ticket) now printed with marked choices and inserts it into third terminal even further away for tabulation? safe storage? who really knows? I'm thankful turnout in our area was low, as I suspect this new convoluted process would have produced back-up out the building, around the corner, and down the street otherwise.
By the way... I did vote on the only choice I was eligible for, a referendum.

I want people voting, but if you aren't knowledgeable about who's running...

Early voting is the best thing they've done.

Don't look at me. I don't live in a municipality.

Me either; that was an intentional choice.

Periodically there is legislative interest in moving the municipal elections to the national/state cycles, removing the need for separate elections. This would reduce costs and improve turnout for the municipal races. However, no traction so far.

I literally saw NO news coverage of this primary other than to say that yesterday was a primary day in some locations. NO campaign ads, other than a couple of yard signs in Lawrence for Bob Jones (running for mayor). Nothing at all here on the southside.

    Wow

We had a Democrat run off for mayor and one district council seat.
Out of 7,200 people 1,228 turned out for the Mayor runoff and 328 for council seat.
The TV stations covered all the southern elections with the results running on the bottom of the screen.

I could careless since they are Democrats and have the same mentality as the national party.

I showed up Tuesday AM and voted. The voter fraud threat took up more of the screen than the candidates.

You should see the look on the faces at the polling place where in vote in North West IN and declare my party, i get looked at like an animal in the zoo.
"oh my that's what a republican looks like" LOL
And my polling place is in one of the highest crime rate areas of our city.

More people will post about a dog they saw running down the road on the chatter page, than what turned up to vote.

    sad...

To the local ruling class, low turnout is a feature, not a bug. It does make some sense that we do not want municipal elections caught up in turnout over the passionate feelings created by elections like Trump/Clinton...

Hard to vote when you are working 12 hour days...

Early voting goes on for weeks.

Hey JK, how 'bout I don’t give a s**t because they [are] Democrats!

    BTW
I have “issues” with the U.K.!
