    And then there is this......

.....the proposed legislation would also more than double the state’s gas tax to 44 cents a gallon and raise the registration fee for standard vehicles to $148, from $98, among other elements

Illinois should beat their citizenry to death with taxes while squandering the money in machine corruption. The hard working people will move elsewhere and when the state starts looking like Venezuela, it can serve as an example.

That will not happen given how most understand the union of States these days.

The responsible States will be plundered to bail out the irresponsible States. Should they attempt to not comply, they will be beaten into submission.

God no. They may move here and vote for the same garbage they have in their home state.

I was paying the property tax at the courthouse last week.
I like to pay in person and get a little entertainment
    out of my thousand dollars.
A fellow from Illinois chimed in that he was happy to pay the indiana tax compared to what he had to pay in Illinois.
I told him it was his constitutional duty to complain about the taxes here and if he was not going to complain he better just move back to Illinois.

Democrat logic: "We need everyone to drive electric vehicles to save the planet... Sorry we're going to raise your registration fee to $1000 because you don't buy gasoline."

Um... honestly, it is quite logical.

Electric vehicles still cause road wear, which the gas tax pays for (as much as you can say any particular tax goes to any particular expense). So this is a way for people who still cause wear to the roads but who were not previously paying the taxes for road maintenance to pay "their fair share."

Or you could nationalize oil production and use the profits from exports to pay for the roads. But that actually makes sense.

    Or . . . . .

We could nationalize healthcare and none of us would have to pay for it. . . . . .or . . . . .we could nationalize all the news media and we wouldn’t have to worry about paying for cable . . . . . . .or. . .. . . . .we could nationalize all pharmaceutical companies and we wouldn’t have to pay for any drugs . . . . Or . . . We could - well, you get the idea.

Let’s ask Venezuela for their blueprint for national ownership of some of the largest oil reserves in the world. It seemed to work pretty well down there. Let’s not forget they outlawed private ownership of guns prior to nationalization of the country’s economy. Is that what you have in mind ?

Errrmmm. Venezuela? You've heard of it, right? Where they nationalized oil production and sent the country straight down the poo collector?
