The fed can go to hell in this and so many other things. If I want to take the risk to get in a vintage aircraft then I want to be able to do it, period. Stay the **** out of my life.

What CB said. If the things were dropping out of the sky that would be one thing but those birds are better flown and fixed than your average 767. Crashes with pax are very rare.

F*** you statists. Let us choose our own fates. If we want to buy a souped up muscle car with no airbags, or fly in a vintage AC that has a higher failure rate its our ass. (cue the counterpoint audio from the movie Airplane)

    That is all.

Still kicking myself. Back in 1999 at the World Freefall Convention in Quincy, IL they had both B17 and B24 rides. But not just regular rides. They would let you skydive out the bomb bay doors. Back then $250 just seemed like an outrageous amount. I could make over 16 regular skydives for that amount. Really wishing now I had put it on the plastic and paid it off over time. I dont think you can even get a ride for that price now.

I took a ride in a B-17 about 10 years ago, the best money I ever spent.

Like others said; whatever happened to the idea of freedom?

The gov wants to save us from ourselves. They don't want anyone crashing in a bomber until they decide we HAVE to crash in a bomber...

Obama,Lizzy Warren, Palosi, Kamala Harris..........the list is endless.

Our freedoms started to fade with the socialists movements. And we stopped those who would seek these people out. We have put them in power in ever increasing numbers.

    .
I got to sit Door Gunner in a Huey once. While it was parked on the tarmac.
I was able to play with the M-60, although it was empty.

I never do anything fun. :(

All aircraft have mandated maintenance schedules. What makes a vintage plane more dangerous than a current model?

Not a plane guy but my guess is the safety features.
Just like in the old muscle cars. Those had no seat belts or airbags. Yes you can still drive them and go fast if you like. If you crash you may not survive. Now take a modern muscle car and while you can go fast or faster than the older ones you have seat belts, air bags, better safety designs all which should help keeping you alive in a crash even if you end up all jacked up.

...Whatever happened to Legislative Branch making laws?
Am I the only one that thinks everyone seems to be throwing out the Constitution?

It could be completely constitutional, if Congress delegated this authority to the FAA- then it would be the power of the legislature.

...not to say that such delegation is a good idea or this regulation should happen.

My way of thinking is that the FAA has very strict regulations about maintenance and inspections, follow those and leave it as-is. Making large policy changes based upon one incident is an over reaction.

I am against any delegation of authority.
People in the government that make rules, should be elected.
Bureaucrats should never make rules, only follow or enforce them.

Sadly, we seem to be a galaxy away from that anymore.

That B-17 was probably maintained better than most private aircraft. A privately owned aircraft must have an annual inspection regardless as to hours flown. A privately owned aircraft used for hire, instruction, or in this case to give rides must be inspected every 100 hours of operation. Commercial aircraft (airliners) have a different schedule.

Has it been determined that the crash had any relationship to the age of the aircraft?

    What? You want FACTS?

    *something random and bad happens*

Government response: we don't have time to think this through. Let's just ban it by fiat.

Duck boat rides or vaping anyone?

More lazy reactionary bullcrap from our inept leadership everywhere. I'm so tired of stupidity taking the day.
