It is only my humble opinion, but I believe that Nancy Pelosi just stuck a fork in her political career. She's done. She may not realize it yet, but the demise of her reign is in sight, and it's accelerating beyond her control.

The House just passed their resolution for rules of impeachment inquery, or whatever they call it, strctly along party lines.
When leaving the Capitol after the vote, Nancy was reported to say, "This is a sad day...". I think she meant for her, NOT for America.

I have been wrong before, and likely will be again sometime, but I sincerely belive Nancy just screwed herself, and probably quite a few of her cohorts, with this resolution.

I talked to a millenial the other day at a gas station.
She initiated the conversation by commenting on my Trump 2020 hat.
She told me that the more she sees of him the more she likes him, and then said, "I really wanted HER to win, but now I see what a terrible idea that would have been."
She voted for Hillary, but now says she will vote for Donald Trump.

I realize that corn-fed Indiana is not a Democratic stronghold, but I think the Democrats have now dug themselves a hole that will take many election cycles to climb out from.
The Trump derangement syndrome is strong in the Democratic party, and I for one, am glad to see it finally coming to light.

I'm aligned with you, but not totally. At least not yet.

I think she's glad the procedure is now set, because that helps her identify ways to stop this.

If articles are passed, then I think she'll retire after the Senate acquits.

Well, we'll see. I just don't have sense of how the populace as a whole views the impeachment issue. I know what people around me think, but that is a rather small and non-representative sample.

It is interesting that in the first election after the Clinton impeachment, the Senate was a wash and the Democrats made gains in the House which was highly unusual given that the opposing party usually makes gains in the off-presidential year. Some speculated that people were put off by the impeachment....of course in the next presidential election, the opposing party won the presidency (barely) and the Democrats made gains in the Senate and House. Of course, by 2 years after the impeachment, what effect that actually had in 2000 is suspect.

    In sum.

    We'll see.

I've seen very few powerful people voluntarily give up that power, and I don't see anything about her that leads me to believe she will be any different

This can’t be true. I’ve read by a guy here that trump is losing voters and has no chance next election. A millennial switching from her to him? Impossible according to some.

I’m looking forward to voting trump again :rockwoot:

Who? I haven't seen anyone say that Trump has no chance at the next election ...but I have admittedly said that he's losing voters, and am willing to place a wager that he doesn't reach his 2016 popular vote total in 2020.

IMO the main for finally having a house vote on impeachment procedures is to offset the damage adam bullschiff has done to their credibility

I'm waiting for someone to explain "why" this forks her career.

People are acting like we still live in a world with predictable consequences to actions.

Most of this seems based on the conventional wisdom surrounding Gingrich's experience. You're forgetting: Newt Gingrich was a *conservative*.

    It's a tit for tat!

Back and forth, back and forth....

    Impeachment warnings -

    Criminal investigations -

    Impeachment vote and pass -

    We'll see what's next......

I think Nancy's political career was winding down very quickly anyway. Longer term, this will probably end up being among the final nails in the coffin of that career but short term, it probably helps to keep the wolves in her own party at bay a little while longer. For her to prolong here career much in the long term, she really needs to see the house cleaned of those like AOC and the other firebrands without accepting the blame for it. That is an extremely fine line to walk and I doubt she has the faculties for it any more.

Now, I think this sham of an impeachment will ultimately hurt the Dems but I'm not sure it hurts them any more than their Presidential candidates are hurting the party. Long term I'm far from ready to count the Democrat Party out as long as so many don't understand what the party is really all about. Also, one should never underestimate the ability of Republicans to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Trump wins because he fights but how many other Republicans have learned anything from that?

You are right that those loons are defining themselves. They ain't going anywhere though, Nancy included. Health or age will be the only thing that runs her out of position.

Just look at all the crap these loons have made as talking points the last couple years. Flat out falsehoods, not to mention socialism and gun control. :dunno:

Doesn’t sound like he’s losing voters if a millennial that was for “her” is now for him. Yes that’s only one instance, but if you’d turn off cnn I think you’d see a lot more of those opinions across the country. #walkaway

That's hearsay. Taking into account that the interaction that MgDerf described is true, no one of can verify that this chick voted, who she voted for, nor who she intends to vote for in the upcoming election. However, it should be noted that based on the woman's comments, if factual, she admits to voting for Clinton over Trump, and has already stated that she would vote for Trump, without even knowing who the Democratic candidate will be. That, in my opinion, seems to indicate that the woman is a simpleton, and other than expressing her right to vote, doesn't actually have a clue as to why she's voting.

From my viewpoint that describes a large portion of the voters. Combine with that the people who know why they are voting but make a really dumb decision in that regard and we have the majority of the voting population.

Yes, of course, it’s hearsay. So if I tell you I voted for trump, it’s hearsay, because you have no proof I voted for trump, or voted at all.

And yes, she’s a simpleton for realizing the left doesn’t align with her views and beliefs, and supporting what the president has done enough to make her want to vote for him. Also, based on her wanting to vote for trump, you gather that other than expressing her right to vote she has no clue why she’s voting? Geez dude

Simpleton? That's a little harsh and intolerant of you. Maybe she has been following the Democratic candidates, watched all the debates, thought about what positions they are claiming to have and decided that not one of them is fit for the Presidency. So just because she states she would vote for a person that you don't agree now with makes her a simpleton?

    Very typical. Very hypocritical.

I would believe that the demoncratic candidate will be one of the individuals who have thrown their hat into the ring, and possibly Hillary. It does not take a simpleton to know that each and every one of those socialists are not fit for office, in any capacity.

Simpleton? You and Hillary would make a good team, after all, maybe she (this young lady) is with the rest of us in the basket of deplorables?

Do you actually know that that young lady has no clue as to why she is voting? Who's calling the kettle black?
