We'll probably see this as soon as next year here in California...

    Hawaii Senate Bill 2635 SD 2 ...

Senate Bill 2635 SD 2[text] requires anyone wishing to buy ammunition to provide proof of firearm registration for the particular caliber of purchase. The owner of a firearm may also designate an alternate person who, after fingerprinting and a background check, will be issued a permit to purchase ammunition for that firearm. In the case of firearms capable of firing multiple calibers, the bill leaves the decision to include any additional calibers on the permit up to the discretion of the police, with no outlined process for appeal.

If I remember correctly Wash DC still has this law on the book's.
You can get burned for having empty brass in your possession in a caliber that you dont have a registered firearm in.

This is signaling the left's/D's agenda folks. Pay attention.

What are they going to do about internet/mail ordering or bring back from less totalitarian states? Would seem to set up a collision with interstate commerce if the feds have the balls to go there

Commiefornia already prohibits out of state and internet purchase of ammo unless it goes through an FFL... and as yet the feds have not pursued that under interstate commerce.

There’s never an end to ideas they can come up with to make it just a bit more cumbersome to keep and bear arms.

It's not about stopping crime. it's about making gun ownership so onerous and legally dangerous that fewer and fewer people want to do it until they can infringe the right to keep and bear arms away entirely. Then instead of the government fearing the people; the people must fear the government. Once that happens you have a government of either mob rule or tyrant rule.

I can see California and Illinois because of there strick laws.

Wake up! How do you suppose those strict laws came to be passed? Liberal do-gooder legislators attempting to disarm Americans making it safe for them to accomplish their agenda.

First a list of 'permitted' firearms that can only be purchased within the state. Then 10 round mag limits. Then limits on ammunition purchased over the internet. Then a $1 fee EVERY TIME you purchase ammunition. Next it WILL be limiting the ammunition you can purchase. Now pending in California ... no lead ammunition allowed. After that.. .. as in England... requiring that your firearms be secured at a 'registered' gun club (police station). They. Will. Not. Stop. In. California or Illinois. Look at Virginia.

Not all at once, but one, by one ... death by a thousand cuts.

    Step 1- fight registration laws.

So far, so good, but be ever vigilant.

Oh, and I believe that most liberals actually think they are fighting crime. They are in this for the long haul, decades, centuries...many actually believe that EVENTUALLY enough firearms and ammunition will be removed from society to make a difference in crime.
