Sometimes the devil you know is better than the devil you don't. At least our intelligence services and the administration had several years of experience with Kim Jong Un.

Power, very much like nature, abhors a vacuum.

I know everyone thinks Little K was the power behind that regime but I'm not so sure. I think some of the top military leaders may actually call the shots. Just my suspicion. I don't think you'll see much change unless it is a bit for the worse, if that's the case. Making a deal with the US undermines their importance, so I think while we think it would have been to the country's advantage (economically speaking), it would be at the cost of reduced importance for the military and its high leadership.

I'm no expert, though. Maybe the little chubby guy really did have all the power.

Heart problems, weight issues plus the fear that the USA is about to nuke him... yeah I can see him having heath issues.

Hmmm, seems he's not the man we thought at all. ;) OTOH, at this point, he was the devil we knew. I now think the projectile launches the other day were related.

(Regarding the Tweet, even if wrong, she's too big for them to let go. She does a stellar MSNBC "smug")

I have a different take than most, feel free to disregard if you want.

Kim had been allowing an unprecedented amount of western access into his country, and communications with the US.
Kim's main concession he begged for, for the US to provide him, was that the US protect him inside of his own country.

I fully believe Kim was fearing for his life from the old guard inside of North Korea, who were getting increasingly annoyed at his actions. And someone screwing with his anesthesia during surgery would be the quietest and most plausibly deniable way, for certain, to dispatch of him.

The one who might have been kinda cute if not for being #2 in line to the throne of a reclusive nuclear armed dictatorship?... yeah, her.

It's the eyes, man. One look at those peepers and Charles Manson would've ran screaming into the woods.
