    AP said:
TORONTO (AP) — Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said Friday that Canada is banning the use and trade of assault-style weapons immediately.

Trudeau cited numerous mass shootings in the country, including the killing of 22 people in Nova Scotia April 18 and 19. He announced the ban of over 1,500 models and variants of assault-style firearms, including two weapons used by the gunman as well as the AR-15 and other weapons that have been used in a number of mass shootings in the United States

“Canadians need more than thoughts and prayers,” Trudeau said.

The Cabinet order doesn’t forbid owning any of the military-style weapons and their variants but it does ban the use and trade in them. He said the order has a two-year amnesty period for current owners, and there will be a compensation program that will require a bill passed in Parliament.

Don't worry, won't happen here... It's not like there is a major political party that has that as it's platform here like there is in canada.

Using the recent mass killings as cover for something Trudeau has been pushing for years. The fact that investigators haven't released the types of rifles used in those murders all but guarantees they weren't "assault weapons."

The gunman in Nova Scotia, 51-year-old Gabriel Wortman, shot 13 people to death and set fires that killed nine others in one of the worst mass shootings in the country’s history. Police have said he used a handgun that was obtained in Canada and long guns that he obtained in the U.S., but they have not specifically said what guns he used.

Now we’re gonna hear “Canada did it!” for the next 100 eons.

Well, GO TO ****ING CANADA THEN!

    France did it years ago.
Owning "assault weapons", full-automatic rifles with "high capacity" magazines is illegal.
In 2015 over 130 people were killed during several mass shootings where terrorists used AKs.
For some reason no politician asked for guns to be made even more illegal after the attacks.

Yep, one guy in Canada did it... decreed it... no vote.

This is a very unpopular move in Canada right now.

I'm not very intimidated by "a poutine behind every blade of grass"... I think a small group of INGO users should be enough to liberate Canada :)

Its a certainty that Democrats are salivating over this and praying for two things: Taking control the Senate and for another high profile mass shooting. I feel bad for Canadian gun owners. This is why elections matter and also why politicians should immediately be recalled from office if they propose anything that is unconstitutional and violates their oath to uphold the constitution. There needs to be a mass flushing of the swamp.

I don’t know Canada’s founding documents but when I see stuff like this, I’m thankful there were folks at our founding that demanded a bill of rights. We can make good arguments on how the 2A has been gutted but can you imagine where we’d be if we didn’t have it to start with?

I believe etiquette requires a "triple dog dare" to be levied before increasing the illegality...

    .
Parliamentary system is different than ours, they evolved from England more recently that US. Sadly for our northern neighbors Trudeau seems like he's more concerned with his presence on the world stage.

Let this be a lesson to those who say this could never happen here.

It just happened in our back yard, in a nation where firearms ownership is nearly as heavily celebrated as here. When a politician opposes your individual liberties, you should not think of it as campaign speech, you should take it as seriously as a heart attack.

Just remember the consequences you and your family will face if it happened here. If you aren't ready and willing for those consequences, you should fight against it until your last breath.

That's right. We must stay vigilant. Especially come November.
