Oh hell, Reddit got me. That was "trending" a few days ago. I didn't look up the bill. I feel like we're in meme territory in all political landscapes...

Yeah, a lot of stuff gets caught in a "Reddit whirlpool", comes in fresh, goes under, then pops back up, then goes under, then pops...

The "dude gets hit by a tire" that was cool on INGO a week ago is one of those things.

No worries, just poking fun. And it actually brings up a good current issue.

I had a professor who argued that privacy is only possible within our own mind. I guess that's until we have people with wifi enabled augmented reality chips implanted in their corneas. Gotta catch all them Pokemon Go thingies. Also, how they think a backdoor in end-to-end encryption won't be exploited is absurd.

All I really need to do to defeat end to end encryption is install malware on your device to capture screen shots of the decrypted material and route it to a discrete server

Amendment to Keep Feds out of Citizens’ Internet History Fails — by 1 Vote

The Senate voted against an amendment on Wednesday sponsored by Sens. Steve Daines (R-MT) and Ron Wyden (D-OR) that would curb law enforcement agencies’ ability to obtain web browsing and Internet search data without a warrant.

The Senate voted on amendments on Wednesday to H.R. 6172, sponsored by House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler (D-NY), which would reauthorize provisions relating to intelligence gathering under the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA). The legislation passed through the Senate on Wednesday.

Credit where it's due, to the 10 democrat senators, including Diane Feinstein of all people, and 27 republicans for voting for this amendment to check the government's power to check your internet browsing habits without a warrant.

Todd Young seems to have voted the right way. Can't say the same for the junior senator from Indiana.

Isn't a "yea" vote the "right" vote, meaning Todd didn't vote right way?

Monitor you? Manipulate what you see? Sell it all?

Isn't that Google, Facebook and Twitter's business model?

    Could be anywhere
They run an add...and everyone on the list is an R. Even Lee of UT who is probably the most constitutionally based senator on the floor. I think I disbelieve (or heartily disagree with) whatever it is they are trying to sell.
