So does the creation of Chaz or chop or whatever count as secession or renouncement of us citizenship? If so, does this preclude these people from voting, owning guns, etc in the US? Perhaps there are other civic duties/rights they aren't eligible for now.

I used to know a sovereign citizen, and he was always in some kind of trouble with authorities and government types. How is this different?

They've built a wall, right? Let's build a wall around them and set up checkpoints. Can't trade without a treaty. They don't want to be US citizens....fine.

This whole ordeal is why they changed it from CHAZ to CHOP.

They finally realized, if they declared themselves independent they're no longer US citizens and can be handled militarily.

These same people will tell you that a country created through secession prevented a secession later on therefore it's treason and can never be attempted again.

In the U.S., unilateral secession isn't a thing, so not that.

As for renunciation of citizenship, there are specific legal standards and from what I have heard, these have not been completed.

They are simply a-holes living unlawfully in fantasy land and need to be dealt with as the criminals they are by local authorities. Let's not give this more significance than it has.

Um...they would be right about those points if that's what they said....and the first "secession" was treason against The UK by any standard. The second attempt at secession was ill-fated and illegal and treason as well. Any subsequent attempt at secession without the consent of the political sovereigns involved (state, federal government) done by force or inciting an uprising would be treason too. So there's that...
