Having spent a fair amount of time there, this comes as no surprise. Well, maybe a little. It's a bit hard to believe the hippie denizens would turn to violence and mayhem.


But, it's an act of incredible ignorance to tear down a statue of man who led soldiers in the fight against slavery, and another statue of a woman with an outstretched arm symbolizing progress. Is there no bounds to their destruction?


It's a shame because it's a beautiful capitol and square with lots of wonderful places to grab a beer.

My wife was born and raised in Madison, WI and my in-laws just moved to Fishers from Madison. My in-laws are relieved to be out of Madison, but also upset to see it going down like this. They were close to, if not THE last right-leaning citizens of that city. They always showed their support of republicans with yard signs and bumper stickers, which drew much negative attention in that city. I don't know if it'd be worth it, with how violent the left is anymore.

Madison is getting crazy. Four white racists try to burn a stranger at a stop light at 1AM. Young woman says she had lighter fluid sprayed on her and a lighter thrown into her car, ending with burns to her face.
If this is true it shows the depths of insanity that we have reached.
I have many questions about her story. I guess I'm becoming a bit jaded and can't accept someone's account at face value. White racists were carrying obsolete lighter fluid and a Zippo? Hopefully their fingerprints are on the Zippo. The spray only landed on her cheek and didn't ignite her hair or clothes or get in her eye? I certainly hope there were security cameras that caught the attack and will lead to arrests.
I hope the press follows up with the police investigation results.

I remember going into restaurants with candles on the table (back when they allowed smoking), and carrying a small can of lighter fluid and squirting a little on my fingertip. I'd wait until the waiter or waitress came up to the table, then touch my fingertip to the candle flame and light my cigarette with my finger. It got quite a reaction out of my server.
