I'd say yeah, that's a pretty good description.

I sure did enjoy Christmas shopping in the Norfolk / Hampton area a few years ago. Navy port areas can be great fun with the resale / antique shops.

The Democrat voters in the counties near DC have grown to a point where they outnumber the votes in the rest of the state. Much like San Fran and LA over shadow the rest of the state in CA. I suppose in this election there could be a huge turnout in the rest of the state but not likely and if they dont turn things around this election or the next few elections, VA is probably lost for a long time.

    .
The dc is as dc does, it's the richest place on earth with an enormous concentration of power. It surprises me that Virginians and Marylanders really have much if anything to say about their future.

Depending on how the election goes, I can see some of these county secession movements gaining traction. Especially if the rural areas are still feeling dominated, ignored and neglected by the urban areas.

I have heard there are parts of Virginia that want to join West Virginia. I guess some called it "Vexit".

Likewise, I have heard the northern rural parts of California want to secede to form "Greater Idaho". That is one of a couple of California county secession movements right now.

On top of that, there is an Illinois county secession movement that would bring many rural counties right here to Indiana while leaving an area around Chicago and it's surrounding counties to their own devices.

    Time will tell.

So they want their own private Idaho? :)
