But, you are correct. Not one republican circle filled in this time. Not all dems, but most.

I think of it like music.

Hip-hop is not something I listen to or compose. Most modern cookie cutter pop music leaves me cold. Don't listen or write that either. So, I write what pleases me and if someone else likes it as well, I feel good about that. But I'm done trying to please most of the world. I grew out of that.
It sounds like you've reached a good point in your life when you don't have to worry about pleasing others. That's great! But what about our grandkids? I recently become a grandparent for the first time. I wonder if socialism and the new cancel culture will allow them the same opportunities we've had to create a comfortable life.

Upthread you listed a whole bunch of historically conservative beliefs that most of us could agree on, and that you admit are beliefs of the old Democrats. Yet you fill in the circles for the new Democrats. I don't understand that.

Mostly because the republicans aren't the same republicans they used to be.

I could never vote for a person like Todd Rokita. My congressman is a carpetbagger. You already know the problems with the governor.

Our mayor is republican and I think he ran unopposed in the primary. I agree with that. He's a damn fine mayor. One of the best we've had.

As to my grandkids....I said upthread that I taught my sons what I could. It is their job to teach their kids. So far, they seem to be doing it right. They go to parochial school. They have manners. I doubt any of them will become axe murderers.

Other than that, what do I have to offer then except example? I'm not going to be alive when the world is at 10 billion people. It was 2.4 billion or so when I was born. They will live in a much different world with different societal requirements.

Gerund sounds like it should mean "really old word". As in, "You just said 'verily'. That's quite a gerund!"

I am surprised we have not seen this label thrown out here.

You have to work at it from both sides. I don't like cookie-cutter pop (or the touring musicians that pretend to love it for a paycheck), either. But there's little I can do about that, other than not support it.

On the other hand...humanity was rid of one more greenwich-village folk-faker this weekend. He lived a full life. No loss to music in my opinion.

When Trump is over and done, he will have served a purpose in his party (which, is not really his party). He will have presided over the retirement of a whole regiment of pompous-ass Republicans from the party, hopefully never to return. To reverse-paraphrase Mencken, I wouldn't trade all the brats born in Trenton, NJ since the Spanish-American war for one Jeff Flake.

The GOP side is working on their side of the mountain. (Cf. Linsey Graham, etc., etc.).

But you're not working yours. You are, to cop a phrase, simply helping man the cookie-cutter. The people voting for Trump, whether they all intend to or not, are performing heavy lifting within the task of changing their party. On the other hand, in pulling that lever all the way down the ticket, you are a running script inside the Matrix.
