The media did not cover it until after it was over. It was characterized as having a turnout of "tens of thousands" of protestors.

Here is the truth:

The truth will out. Despite mainstream media attempts to characterize turnout as in the thousands, a spokesman for the National Park Service, Dan Bana, is quoted as saying "It is a record.... We believe it is the largest event held in Washington, D.C., ever."

Democrats and their media acolytes may wish this weren't so, and they may even employ the Ostrich Strategy, burying their collective heads in the sand, pretending that a major important political movement isn't happening. I thought it was interesting that the capital police declined to give an estimate on the number. I'm sure it will come out, and this will be yet another thing to blow up in the obamas face.

Well, our media beleives the same thing....If they didn't cover it, it never happened.
Don't worry though, it'll all be over before they know it.;)

I heard 1.5 Million people.

ABC NEWS has issued a retraction. It was reported by several small media sources that ABC claimed that there were 2 Million people in DC for the event. ABC now is claiming that they never reported that 2 Million people attended

So now the story is spinning off side stories :patriot:

Protest Crowd Size Estimate Falsely Attributed to ABC News - ABC News
ABC News Was Misquoted on Crowd Size
ABC News Reported D.C. Rally Size in Tens of Thousands, Not 1M to 1.5M as Activist Said.

Sept. 13, 2009

Conservative activists, who organized a march on the U.S. Capitol today in protest of the Obama administration's health care agenda and government spending, erroneously attributed reports on the size of the crowds to ABC News.

Matt Kibbe, president of FreedomWorks, the group that organized the event, said on stage at the rally Saturday that ABC News was reporting that 1 million to 1.5 million people were in attendance.

At no time did ABC News, or its affiliates, report a number anywhere near as large. ABCNews.com reported an approximate figure of 60,000 to 70,000 protesters, attributed to the Washington, D.C., fire department. In its reports, ABC News Radio described the crowd as "tens of thousands."

Why does the leftwing lie about protest attendance figures?

Each time conservatives, libertarians, sensible Democrats and Republicans, and ordinary citizens with no political affiliation gather to protest the actions of a reckless federal government in Washington, the Leftwing extremist smear machine goes to work to attempt to vastly underestimate the attendance figures at those events.
Not only that, but they are also notorious for overestimating attendance at liberal-sponsored events such as the ' million mom march' about 10 years ago, which by all accounts came nowhere near the one million attendance figure claimed by organizers.
Yesterday's march on Washington was a significant, historical event no matter which way you cut it, as we discussed yesterday in the Columbia Conservative Examiner. Ordinary citizens in the heartland normally are not political protesters like the Far Left loons. But something about the corruption, the runaway spending, and the attempt at a government takeover of healthcare is not sitting well with the vast silent majority that is silent no longer.
The swelling current of outrage began with the Tea Parties months ago. Then the next wave developed into a rip tide during the August Townhall meetings held across the country. And now that swelling current is a full-blown tsunami as millions of citizens all over the country expressed outrage over the present course the nation is taking by marching on Washington and other towns and cities in the U.S.
Immediately as crowd estimates from various sources began pouring in, the Leftwing machine kicked into overdrive to discredit any reasonable estimate of the size of the protests. A major newspaper in the U.K, the Daily Mail, reported that up to 2 million people marched on Washington. ABC News had reported that figure on TV early in the afternoon, but issued a denial on its website, stating they had been misquoted.
Well and good. So ABC News did not say 2 million. But the Metro police estimated 1.2 million, as reported, and the Parks and Recreation service estimated 1.5. million, according to Tabitha Hale.
If anything, at least one organization that helped organize the march, FreedomWorks, vastly underestimated the size of the protest so as not to make themselves vulnerable to charges that they boosted the numbers. As it has been shown time and again, the Leftwing is the one that has made gross overestimates of attendance at their events an art-form.
But let's expose one major talking point of the Leftwing machine for the bare-faced lie that it is, shall we?
On countless blogs, comment sections of articles online, and in other online sources, the Leftwing extremists have repeated one common mantra--the live, time-lapse video-cam of yesterday's march in D.C. was 'bogus,' that the footage I posted here and that others posted on their sites were from Ted Kennedy's funeral procession. The 'proof?' The flag in the live-cam--which was posted on top of what appears to be a parking garage, was flying at half-staff.
Excuse me, my esteemed opponents on the Left, but, how is that 'proof' that the video was from Kennedy's funeral? Or have you been asleep for the past few days?
Flags across the country were at half-staff to commemorate the 9/11 terrorist attack against our nation, and many of them were left in that position for 9/12 as well, particularly since Saturday was not a work day.
Thus, the charge that the video footage of the massive crowd marching on Washington is actually from the Kennedy funeral is patently false. And there are several sources that can prove it is false if the brainiacs of the Left would simply open their eyes to see and express a willingnesses to accept truth rather than fictitious attacks.
You can find a full account of the veracity of the video here, and the National Park Service describes how they arrive at reliable crowd estimates in USA Today.
Yet, even after saying all of this, in the end the actual attendance matters very little. It was still a protest of historical significance due to who was involved in it--those who normally protest nothing. Even if the official estimates are on the lower end of the speculation--350,000--that is still a credible showing for working Americans.
In fact, I will go ahead and postulate that it will probably work to the advantage of the citizens, the taxpayers, the Patriots who protested yesterday to simply allow the Left to believe their own lies about the supposed poor showing of 30,000 (yes, I actually saw that laughable figure reported by several Leftwing blogs and one mainstream media source). Simply let them believe, as Obama incessantly claims, that this is no big deal, that it represents a very small minority of people, and that the protest gatherings are 'small.'

The most painful of rude awakenings come when we are thoroughly convinced of a false premise and wake up to discover just how terribly wrong we were in the end.
To all of you Libs out there, that is fair warning. But go ahead. Assume that we are just a 'tiny minority' who won't be any threat to your plans to destroy this country. I would like to see your faces when you wake up on the 'morning after' in November of 2010.

Up to two million march to US Capitol to protest against Obama's spending in 'tea-party' demonstration | Mail Online

A million march to US Capitol to protest against 'Obama the socialist'

By David Gardner
Last updated at 6:59 AM on 14th September 2009

As many as one million people flooded into Washington for a massive rally organised by conservatives claiming that President Obama is driving America towards socialism.

The size of the crowd - by far the biggest protest since the president took office in January - shocked the White House.

Demonstrators massed outside Capitol Hill after marching down Pennsylvania Avenue waving placards and chanting 'Enough, enough'.

Tens of thousands of people converged on Capitol Hill on Saturday to protest against government spending.

The focus of much of the anger was the president's so-called 'Obamacare' plan to overhaul the U.S. health system.

Demonstrators waved U.S. flags and held signs reading 'Go Green Recycle Congress' and 'I'm Not Your ATM'.'

The protest on Saturday came as Mr Obama took his campaign for health reforms on the road, making his argument to a rally of 15,000 supporters in Minneapolis.

Saying he was determined to push through a bill making health insurance more affordable, Mr Obama said: 'I intend to be president for a while and once this bill passes, I own it.

Demonstrators hold up banners on Capitol Hill in Washington on Saturday

'I will not waste time with those who think that it's just good politics to kill healthcare.'

But in Washington, protester Richard Brigle, 57, a Vietnam veteran, said: 'It's going to cost too much money we don't have.' Another marcher shouted: 'You want socialism? Go to Russia!'

Terri Hall, 45, of Florida, said she felt compelled to become political for the first time this year because she was upset by government spending.

'Our government has lost sight of the powers they were granted,' she said. She added that the deficit spending was out of control, and said she thought it was putting the country at risk.

Anna Hayes, 58, a nurse from Fairfax County, stood on the Mall in 1981 for Reagan's inauguration. 'The same people were celebrating freedom,' she said. 'The president was fighting for the people then. I remember those years very well and fondly.'

Saying she was worried about 'Obamacare,'Hayes explained: 'This is the first rally I've been to that demonstrates against something, the first in my life. I just couldn't stay home anymore.'

Andrew Moylan, of the National Taxpayers Union, received a roar of approval after he told protesters: 'Hell hath no fury like a taxpayer ignored.'

Republican lawmakers also supported the rally.

'Republicans, Democrats and independents are stepping up and demanding we put our fiscal house in order,' Rep. Mike Pence, chairman of the House Republican Conference, said.

'I think the overriding message after years of borrowing, spending and bailouts is enough is enough.'

FreedomWorks Foundation, a conservative organization led by former House of Representatives Majority Leader Dick Armey, organized several groups from across the country for what they billed as a 'March on Washington.'

Organisers said they had built on momentum from the April 'tea party' demonstrations held nationwide to protest at Mr Obama's taxation policies, along with growing resentment over his economic stimulus packages and bank bailouts.

The heated demonstrations were organized by a Conservative group called the Tea Party Patriots.

Other sponsors of the rally include the Heartland Institute, Americans for Tax Reform and the Ayn Rand Center for Individuals Rights.

Recent polls illustrate how difficult recent weeks have been for a president who, besides tackling health care, has been battling to end a devastatingly deep recession.

Fifty per cent approve and 49 per cent disapprove of the overall job he is doing as president, compared to July, when those approving his performance clearly outnumbered those who were unhappy with it, 55 per cent to 42 per cent.

Just 42 percent approve of the president's work on the high-profile health issue.

article-1213056-066693E9000005DC-643_634x343.jpg

'Parasite-in-chief': The title given to the American President during the demonstrations on Saturday.

The poll was taken over five days just before Obama's speech to Congress. That speech reflected Obama's determination to push ahead despite growing obstacles.

Prior to Obama's speech before Congress U.S. Capitol Police arrested a man they say tried to get into a secure area near the Capitol with a gun in his car as President Barack Obama was speaking.

On Thursday police spokeswoman Kimberly Schneider said that 28-year-old Joshua Bowman of suburban Falls Church, Virginia, was arrested around 8pm on Wednesday when Obama was due to speak.

Bowman's intentions were unclear, police said.

I'm a little dissapointed that I can't find anything on Drudge or foxnews about this. They have the standard articles about numbers being higher than expected, but nothing about 1 million or even estimates.

WOW... Hey rambone can I get your help on reporting all those 2 million people to the white house for their fishy stories. :D

What amazed me the most was not the number of people but the OP with the pics of the garbage left behind. Those two pictures say WAY MORE than words can ever say.

If you look close, some of the trashed posters say "Save the Planet" and "Kill all Big Business Polluters". If you look even closer, most of them are misspelled.

The press are Obama's Nazgul. They won't report anything that reflects poorly on him. It didn't happen, move along, nothing to see. Deny, downplay, ignore. This is how a tin-pot dictator operates, isn't it, surely not the most open and honest administration EVAH.

ABC was quoted AT THE RALLY that there were 1.5 million and counting. Oh, and CNN was there giving live video stream online.

Oh, and C-Span had THE BEST coverage. I started off with CNN during the march and about a 1/3 of the way through I found CSpan had better coverage.

Screw the media. You all know what they can do with their pandering...
