Snakes are doing well this year, I've ran into a handful of copperhead and spotted this little guy a couple weeks ago. They all seem to be more docile than usual, not one has coiled up on me or the dog. I'm not complaining I don't mind pit vipers when they are laid back and easy going.

Right there buried under the thick canopy of poison ivy!....more scared of the plant than the snake!

Nearly stepped on a Timber Rattler as a kid. Did not step forward or backward, but straight up.

In Wyoming at "Independence Rock" I sat down about halfway up the hill so I could have a picture taken and realized I was about 3 feet away from a rattlesnake curled up in a rock outcropping. There is a series of pictures where you can see the realization and me getting up to run.
