Samson is near the Florida border, perhaps 2 hour drive south of Montgomery, Alabama.

Have heard so much about the ineffectiveness of the .38 spl (and the toughness of hogs). This makes for an interesting story- "conventional wisdom" would indicate that it's not possible.

Geez, that's a lot of pork chops. How in the hell did it live long enough to get that big? I mean, in Sampson? They'll shoot and eat almost anything.

I grew up in Louisiana and my Step-Dad's family were Creole, so I bet ate possum and didn't know about it. Heck it took me a year to try gumbo.

Lol, yeah you've probably had possum. Possom and Raccoon are things I had be tricked into eating.

I've never seen a wild hog that large.
We've got plenty of wild hogs at the farm in TN. Upper central area.
I've seen a couple I think might go 500lbs but that one in the picture dwarfs them

My guess would be a head shot. The article says he was 12 yards out when he fired. So I could see that.

    And technically, a .357 mag is a 38 caliber.

If he was man enough to stand 12yds away from that monster with a 38, then he should've just tore his shirt off and killed it bare handed
