doing hay yesterday and noticed a long dead redtail hawk... on my property and laying in one of the horse pastures.. I have had a nesting pair every year in the woods and remember a hawk making a lot of noise and it kept calling out and flying around.. now I assume that it was calling to its fallen mate.
It is sad to see such a beautiful bird dead.. I know this could open some questions and I was hesitant to open a thread.

Do what you can to not possess the bird. Or even ONE feather.

Look up and call the I.C.O. district office that covers your area and inform them of what you've found and ask what to do with it.

I can understand those that admire the beauty of a hawk... but when there are TONS of them around picking off quail etc left and right, I'm of the opinion that a red hawk that passed of natural causes is ok by me... Just differing thoughts.

I wouldn't call anyone. It's not a national emergency. A bird is dead. Maybe thedy will charge you for not providing for its general welfare. Because they are that stupid
