I RECENTLY TALKED TO THE STAFF AT THE SALAMONIE RESERVOIR ABOUT THE DEER RIFLE CHANGE, I'M SURE BY NOW EVERYONE KNOW'S THIS, ....."BUT DID YOU KNOW"! THAT YOU MAY NOT USE HANDGUNS ON ANY PUBLIC LAND THAT THE CORP OF ENGINEERS CONTROLS??, I.E RESERVOIRS, OR FISH & WILDLIFE AREAS THAT HAVE A DAM, OR WATER CONTROL, I WAS SURPRISED TO HEAR THAT? SO THE ONLY WEAPONS YOU CAN USE DURING FIREARM HUNTING ON THESE PROPERTIES IS SHOTGUN OR MUZZLE LOADER ONLY,! MAKE SURE YOU CHECK WITH THE PROPERTY YOU ARE HUNTING ON? I ALSO CALLED THE CONSERVATION OFFICE IN INDY, AND THEY TOLD ME IT WAS IN THE CORPS OF ENGINEERS CONTROL.

The dam, water and emergency flood plane (and ?) should be Corp controlled.
The remaining area might be under state control...........and handgun hunting legal.
    Anybody got a link?

Do know concealed handgun a no no on such ground.

FWIW one such reservoir I know of does turkey hunts by reserve drawing.
The Corp ground is not under state control, and one need not put in to hunt it for turkey.
Others know of this........so the opener is pretty crowded LOL.
Playing such a game...........best know exactly what the rules and boundaries are.

Why all the yelling? I think new hunters will be sufficiently confused by the late change in the public gun calibers rules. This is probably the worst year to explain Indiana deer hunting to a new hunter.
