I never saw or heard anything about our elected officials correcting their mistake to allow pistol caliber rifles on public land. The last I read was that they were going to correct the oversight in January. Did anyone else see the correction made? The last thing we need is to find out the letter of understanding, or whatever it was, that allowed pistol caliber rifles to be used to expire just before deer season.

Yes, it has been clarified, or as much as possible in government speak.

All previously legal pistol caliber rifles will again be allowed on public lands.
It will be available in print in the next hunting/trapping guide.

Again, I don't think the elected officials made a mistake.
Somebody in the DNR tried to pull a fast one by taking something out of format/context.

    Should never have happened.

It was a CNN/liberal media type of d*ck move.
DNR or DNC...............same type of nonsense.

The statement that the DNR used to start the uproar.......rifles only legal for private land....... was in the new HP rifle section.
It was pulled out of context.
Never applied to PCR which had been legal for some time.

The legislator admitting some fault was IMHO him just giving the new DNR guy a fresh start.
Outgoing DNR was the one that was PO'd about legislature getting HP rifle passed without their approval.

Now, the initial HP rifle stuff, wasn't specific in cartridge name.
Obviously, it passed...........based on having some limits (5 cartridges, not specific in name though).

Ex: .308............what is that? .308 Winchester, 308 Lazzeroni, .308 Baer, .308 Norma Mag etc??

DNR to ease their enforcement, made a clarification...........which opened it up to more than the listed 5.
The following yr they opened it to even more.

The last HP rifle increase..........must have really stuck in somebody's craw..........so DNR played a liberal BS game.
    Leverage a lie.
Whoever did it knew it was out of context, it wouldn't fly..........and was just being an arse.

    IMHO they need horsewhipped.

How they DNR got that crap to stick (temporarily) and how so many in the public fell for it.............is nothing but a disgrace...........how crooked some in the DNR were, and how stupid the average Bambi slayer is.

Evidently somebody in the IDNR thought they were on the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals or a judge in Hawaii.
    Liberal crap.

If they can pull a line out of context and declare it law, until challenged............then anything and everything is up for grabs.

    There was no mistake.
The mess was total BS and should have been shot down immediately.
    But for whatever reasons........it wasn't.

The DNR didn't try to fix anything, unless creatively reinterpreting the law was their method of "fixing it".

First, the DNR failed to legalize rifles when they had every chance to do so. Then they chose to reinterpret the law in 2017 after interpreting it correctly the previous year. Lastly, the DNR waited until just before hunting season started and well after the hunting regulations for the year were released to announce this reinterpretation. The stink rightly belongs on them.
