I still would love to coyote hunt and have a few places I could try. I am curious, how do you get rid of them? I am only hunting to alleviate the pressure on the deer around where we hunt. I don't personally want to skin the dirty things for a chance at 5 bucks a pelt.

Curious what you all do with them.

Where do they go when they die of natural causes?
Just leave them where they drop.

Bugs, foxes... have to eat too.

    Are the pelts worth taking?

Back when I was a teenager mid to late 70's. I worked for a local fur buyer around where I live here in our great state. Back then when fur prices were high, to get the most for them they had to be scrapped , stretched on a fur form and dried. After all that work they were bringing $30-$45 a hide as I remember it.

So to answer your question? I would imagine if you do all the work at described above...I think you might garner $8 to maybe $10 for a yote hide now days? I believe real furs are kind of out of style now days. In the end I guess it is up to the individual if "Are the pelts worth taking?"

I would think that you could gut them open and use it for coyote bait , to lure more coyotes in, they are curious. As said earlier, hawks, crows, owls, they will ALL take a free meal when available.

School lunch program? Just like in Louisville here where the losers of the Kentucky Derby end up. Like the one I bet on that finished last... I hope the kids enjoyed him.
