Killed two black widows in the driveway today at different times. I see these here in the GSF but they are always in a web. These were moving around in the driveway rock rather quickly much like a wolf spider and yes I do know the difference. Asked the gardener if she had disturbed something that got them moving, but she couldn't think of anything. Chemical time for the barns I guess.

Also be on the look out for Brown Recluse, got bit on the Calf of the leg 2 1/2 years ago (July Fishing). Just recovered from the third episode from the original bite. usually last three to four months at a time, leg is a scared mess.

I’ve only once seen an actual black widow “in the wild” - in Phoenix.

Had no idea they were in Indiana/Kentucky.

Permethrin SFR works well...especially when mixed to subterranean termite concentrate.

Join the club. Got bit half way up the calf. Didn't seek medical help for 2.5 months. Went away came back, went away, came back worse.

Finally saw reg doc and he said he thought cancer. Biopsy. Sent to specialist after came back and he said cancer.

Finally after 8 month got under control. I am sure spuder was in my hunting boot and jabbed me right where boot top hit calf.

I thought I had a thorn get me but I couldn't stop the pain.

I found a couple bw inside my plastic enclosed style garden hose reel. It's been a year or two and I haven't seen any more.

Never knew until now that Indiana had black widows.

I used to see them a lot at a house I was renting in Alabama. Had my motorcycle parked for a few days in the garage, was getting ready to throw my leg over the saddle to go for a ride but the sun was coming through the window and lit up a spider web attached to my bike and the wall of the garage. The web was different looking, sort of hap-hazard, not the typical geometric pattern of most spider webs. Looked closer, and saw literally hundreds of little baby black widow spiders in the web that I almost put my foot through.

Used a lot of Raid that morning!

Found one with a web and egg sack in my garage last week when I was working on the garage door opener. Insecticide sprayed, then I swiped the web away with a stick. When I whipped the web off of the stick the spider was still trying to run away, but it did not survive an encounter with my New Balance sandal.
