WHEN DOES THE RUT USUALLY BEGIN IN NORTHWEST INDIANA

I was wondering about what time of year the rut starts in NWI ? Can anybody give me a rough idea, thanks.

We usually start seeing good activity the first week of November. We typically start hunting hard on Halloween.

Everyone has their own opinion of the peak of the rut. Its different every year, but if I had to pick 1 day, and 1 day only to be in a stand I would choose November 4th, or 5th

I suspect gun season will come up short this year, but everything seasonal has been pushed back. Maybe the rut will be as well.

Deer scientist's have now discovered it has nothing to do with temperature and everything to do with light. So once the days get short enough, you get rut. It might be true.

They are going to bread no matter the temp. Question is, will they do most their running around at night because its cooler at night, with high temp's.

I wish you the best, but be careful you don't write checks your crossbow can't cash.

If it's not a good shot with a compound bow, it's not a good shot with a crossbow.

I am careful. The one I got I kept saying "If I had a rifle, this is a great shot." When she got into range, I found the bolt going only an inch laterally from where I wanted it.
