Had a fellow near Brazil tell me they found some of the regular brown sponge morels last week.

So I have to ask.

I know I have heard two different sides to this but do morels grow after they pop up? The last years on the property all the morels we found were small and I was wondering if I was just being over anxious with my hunting?

I don't think they grow. I've found little ones, left them and came back and they're the same size.

They quit growing after you look at them...

I've got a buddy that put mason jars over a few in his yard, they've gotten bigger .
I've left a few in the woods to pick the next week ,and they were bigger.

Well..
As for the growing question...I am going to answer it this year!

The property we are on I don't have to worry about human predation so barring deer they should be safe....I will report back to the class once we start to see them in Hamilton county

I got 9 larger mushrooms and about 20 smaller this morning!
Mostly whites & grays.
I'm so happy it's FINALLY the season!
