What is the correct way to count deer tines in Indiana? I did a search online, and some web sites say to count the tines on BOTH antlers to get the tine count, while other sites say to just count the tines on ONE antler. So, I guess my question is; does a 16 point buck in Indiana have eight tines per antler, or sixteen tines per antler? Thanks.

Yes, it is almost always total count. Sometimes but not often, a hunter will be more specific and give a per side count for both sides for example 4x4 for a common 8 point or 5x5 for a 10 point instead of just the total. This happens more often if the buck doesn't have a matching number of tines on both sides, for example a 5x3 or 6x4. I've never heard anyone just give a single side as is more common for western hunters and for mule deer as was mentioned.
