My latest project...$65 for the topper and I've put about $60 more into it, (not the topper but lights, two new clamps, etc...)...Coleman propane stove, cooler, Coleman propane space heater, old bread box for the "kitchen"(stove, utensils, propane, etc....), surplus army cot...I wanted something I could just pull up to the property in and be ready to go....

So here it is.....One week into the project.....

I thought you had a house on you're ground.

The house is two miles away and when I get up at 5 am EVERYBODY gets up at 5 am...This way I can tuck them in the night before and drive out to the property, pull up and set up...

Plus it looks cool and I went into a rabbit hole of folks doing this on Youtube and thought, "Hell...I can do that...:)"

I remember when i was a kid my old neighbor Lewis Hines building a new truck cap almost every year to camp in at Friendship. He'd have all kinds of stuff. I always liked the plywood beds that folded down from the sides.

Our honeymoon back in the 80s was mostly spent in the back of a Toyota pickup. I made shelving units to fit over the wheel wells and strung a 12 volt line to plug in a radio/tape player. She made matching pillows and curtains. Two + weeks to Maine and back, including canoe camping in the Adirondacks.

    We still have the pillows.

As soon as I can find a cap I'm doing this as well. Your right EVERYONE is up when I want to head out. Nice to have all the gear on site. Could even grab a nap in between outings.

I turned a retired phone company van into a minibago back in the seventies for my hunting/fishing needs, lots of good memories. The simple things in life are the best some times.
