To start off I have a 6.5 Grendel AR Pistol that I would like to use for this upcoming firearms season. Specs are as follows: 12” barrel, shoots .264 dia bullet, case length of 1.506” and has a SB Tactical SBA3 brace. I called central dispatch and the guy that picked up verified it was legal. He then asked a CO that happened to be in and he was also in agreement. I guess I’m paranoid because it is somewhat of a grey area in the law but would really like to use this gun. Has anyone else asked this question before? Would anyone be hesitant on using one?

EDIT: will be using on public property.

How is this a grey area?

Is it a handgun or not?

If its a handgun and meets the cartridge and bbl length requirements its good to go where ever handguns are legal for deer

    Seriously.....this aint that hard.

10-4. Thanks for your time. Just trying to get some added reassurance.

I’m no expert, but I run a very similar setup, and from everything I’ve read and learned, it’s a pistol.

Indiana has pretty loose rifle/pistol hunting laws fortunately, and they are getting looser.
