Is it time??? Think I'll re-clean the feeder to be ready.

I couldn't find this year's hummer thread so thought I'd start...

    yes, get them up.

Indy, so I expect them by April 15.
    some later near 30th.
I always try to have them full & changed about every 3 days ir when they start getting cloudy.
I always get a lull period for about 2 weeks first part of May where they suddenly disapear but then return.

My feeder is ready, but I'm holding out for consistent sightings here in the middle of the state. I did see a white pelican on Raccoon Lake Thursday, though! That was pretty cool. I'd never seen one here in my half century on the planet. Didn't know they migrated through here until now.

I watched the PBS show "Nature" last night. It was about Cuba and it's wildlife and had a segment about a hummingbird species that lives there. The tiny nest was simply amazing. I don't think that I have ever seen one. Have any of you?

I saw that also. That is the bee hummingbird, the smallest bird in the world. Native only to Cuba.

I saw a hummingbird nest years ago, very small and well built.

I will have to check that out. Couple of years back I spent a good amount of time watching a web cam that a family out in Orange County, CA had setup. It was aimed at a nest of a Channel Islands Allen's Hummingbird. So cool to watch her take care of her babies and I have seen them hatch and leave the nest. My wife thought I was crazy for watching as much as I did.

one visitor so far. a male goldfinch with his "green" color of winter now in bright yellow of Spring perched and stared at the yellow "bee guard" for about 30 seconds. guess he was really hungry or his eyes were weakening.
Probably feeding on ants. so he was a real smart bird.

My sugar nectar lasted a full 10 days in this cool weather.
Changed today an warmer temps. on the way.
    Still Waiting........
