    From Joe Caudell....

    Hey Everyone,

If you have not yet seen this new page, we have information up on the Special Antlerless Firearm Season. The map for the 2020-2021 County Bonus Antlerless Quotas can also be found there as well.

    www.in.gov/dnr/fishwild/10437.htm

We will be looking for feedback on what hunters think about this season. We are currently working on getting a survey up on this site. It will probably be about a week before that is complete. I will send out another email when it is added to the website. We will also have questions about this season on the next Deer Management Survey in February 2021.

Let me know if you have any questions.

    Cheers,

    joe

Just means if I dont zip a doe w my recurve i could pop one later w a cool rifle.

Instead of late bow or MZ

But yeah, some people think every tag pirchased needs filled.

    I just need 2 deer.
How they end up in my freezer is purely equipment choice based.

Now.....we dont have many does at my main little spot.

But i have other lessrr ground w higher numbers ( they move through like western critters ).

Might not see any for a week then have a few dozen at once. Sleepin bag on edge of field w a ruger #1 in
    280 sounds kinda fun

Id much rather use rifle than MZ.
To old n cranky to mess w BP .
Hell, a lot of stuff is a PITA anymore.

Get the heck away from family/ stress......walk or sit w a cool rifle........whats not to like?

Of course if Ive bucked out and taken a doe before that special season......im done.

Its an option, not a necessity.

Two deer in the freezer is the goal.

Could all happen before freaking gun season.
    Never know

I'm personally not a fan of the late season anterless.period. Chances are you are taking 2. Last few years I've purchased but not filled a doe tag. I'll stick one late archery if I haven't filled any tags. Trying to up the head count in my area. There needs to be some left for my kids to hunt when old enough

I remember a time when one had to apply for a doe tag. Herd numbers are wayyyy down.

A dead doe is a dead doe.
Doesnt matter what she was shot with IMHO.
Either your spot has enough to shoot or it doesnt.
And to make that decision one does need to keep tabs on what is going on around.

Unfortunately my main deer spot is small and one group nearby likes to fill tags.

    We also have poachers

So that spot is pretty much buck only. In fact, my bud might smoke a button on an antlerless tag.....on purpose.

Because that only removes 1 deer.
Blast a big doe and you got her and the two she would have had next yr.

Another bud has a place w lots of does.
Just gotta know your area. Much bigger too.

Most people are pretty clueless......and some are also just greedy.
They are always problematic no matter what the rules are

All very true. We have a few that hunt parcels/land down the road and must think it's combat.

I try to micro manage my area based on trends and scouting activity. Never hurts to be conscious of the long term effect.
