Some irony in the fact that the contour of the moon's brightest crater in the southern hemisphere is quite defined tonight. Maybe my eye sees what my mind knows, and there is no connection.
Either way, it's a good night for a viewing. A lot of fictional reference to this spot as well.

    Tyco crater on the Moon.

From Wikipedia; "Tycho is a prominent lunar impact crater located in the southern lunar highlands, named after the Danish astronomer Tycho Brahe. It is estimated to be 108 million years old. "

It was visited by Apollo 17.

Yeah, I get that, but I was curious about this:

A scene that should have been in 2001...

    "It's full of stars!"

Beirut; it sure didn't take long for the world to murmur about the Israelis being responsible.
But hey, I had the same thoughts wizzin' between my ears seeing as things keep going kaboom in Iran.
