Basically, I’d like to go on a guided hike where a knowledgeable instructor says: “eat this, but that’ll kill you.” “This is medicinal, and that can be used for XYZ.” Does such a thing exist in Indiana?

    Tagging for interest.

Doubly interested if he can do the same for potlucks and extended family pitch-ins.

I know the OP asked for classes in Indiana, but there is a survival school in Kentucky where I (and other INGOers) have attended classes. Campcraft Outdoors in Bethlehem KY.

If folks that are interested can get together and decide on a date/time, I can do this. Prefer my home ground up near Fort Wayne, since I know it best, but might be talked into somewhere else.

    Topics can include:
    Edible "weeds"
    Acorns and other tree nuts
    Berries/fruits
    Useful field guides
    Fundamentals of identification
    Mushrooms
    Field plants
    Forest plants
    Poisonous stuff
Stuff that is only poisonous sometimes
    Other uses besides eating

Interested, but I won't be traveling that far up north. I've been building my knowledge in this area over the last 3-4 years, but I'm not up to teacher level.

I'm especially interested since we're talking Fort Wayne area. Always nice to do a little meet and greet with other INGO people as well.

If there's a kids friendly version of this I'd be happy to try and get our scout troop setup with a walk through as well.

I would also recommend Campcraft Outdoors, in KY. I met CZ Evo there on a weekend where I took my daughter. She loved it. I first met Jason from Campcraft when he was teaching for the Pathfinder school and recognized that he's an outstanding instructor. I can't recommend him enough.

I have done this for scout groups before, so it would certainly be possible. We would meet near Leo. I normally have to charge for these through work, but what I do on my own time is my business, at least for INGO people. Scout groups are another matter.

October Saturdays are pretty clear now since Hartford City Civil War Days and the Hilly Hundred are cancelled. Earlier is better - we can't know what dire weather 2020 is going to throw at us.

Sounds good to me! What do you do for work that you get to teach these types of classes? Sounds interesting!

This just keeps hitting closer and closer to home for me. I live in Leo, so I'm assuming you're talking Metea park or private land?

    Metea.
I am by profession a park naturalist/park manager. I also get to go caving, see eclipses and teach about bug out bags while getting paid for it.

Also, all my people are planning on there being a price for this, so let me know what you’re thinking. I appreciate you offering to do this.
