Has anyone here welded a lifter on an auto-loading shotgun? Recently picked up a new Stoeger to start getting into the 3gun world, and one of the big mods people talk about is welding the lifter. It appears that this basically just removes the half moon cut out from the lifter. Is this mainly to reduce the issue of the lifter biting the thumb? Are there other reasons for it?

I bought a modified lifter for my Benelli from Taran Butler. Makes a WORLD of difference when you're reloading! Don't know if he does Stoeger, but it couldn't hurt to ask?

Thanks for the info, I'll definitely take a look, what differences did it make for you? Just smoother and reduced the lifter bite?
