    I am building my first ar pistol build and i already have a new anderson lower and a pistol buffer tub. I need advise and ideas on caliber (300 or 556) and length.

    If it's a toy then a piece of paper or steel will not know the difference between 556 or 300. Look at pricing between the two and buy the one you can afford more of. A toy is worthless if you can't afford to shot it. As far as barrel length goes, the shorter you go the more obnoxious you get. Go as short as you want to be obnoxious!

    Definitely 5.56 10.5". I just built a 5.56 11.5". I wouldn't go shorter than 10.5". You lose a lot of velocity with a shorter barrel.

    Plus, you can put a foregrip on it if the overall length is over 26". Gives you a little more versatility.
