Savage Barrel swap 308 to 6.5 Creedmore

Anyone do a Savage 308 to 6.5 creedmore swap? Any advice? Just starting to consider the change over. I have a blueprinted Model 10 fcpk 24” fluted Barrel with some age on it. It is in a manners bench pillar bedded stock.

If I can do it, then you know it’s easy....just make sure you have a set of go/no-go gauges for 6.5 and take your time. Keep everything clean. You’ll need the Savage Wrench and a good padded vise.

This is what I've heard as well. have some headspacing/"go no-go" gauges on hand. I've also heard consistent torque will give you best results.
I bet that thing will be quite the shooter!!! keep us posted.

You might check with AllenM. He pulled a .308 barrel and swapped it out to a .458 SOCOM on my deer wacker.

    .
This. I made my own barrel vise out of some wood and it did ok.

Yeah, I built one out of 3/4" steel and a couple 1/2" bolts, using oak bushing things. It worked great, but making the bushings isn't fun.

So anyway, I finally coughed up for a Viper, and I'm pretty happy with it.
