My uncle wants to hunt deer this year and he wants to use the same rifle he used 40+ years ago hunting in Wisconsin.
He has a BEAUTIFUL Remington 700 ADL in .25-06 that I hope to inherit some day.

We took it out last weekend to ensure it was still sighted in. He hasn't shot it in 40 years!
It shot fine, and the scope was surprisingly still zero'd, but we did find an issue with the ejector. It's stuck flush with the bolt face.
I think he may have left a spent case in the chamber for WAY too long.

I soaked the bolt in penetrating oil for 2 days while periodically trying to get the ejector to pop out.
No luck, so I went ahead and drove the retaining pin out.
Nothing! The ejector did not budge.

    I'm at a loss.
I see no obvious reason that the pin would be stuck.
It will depress about 1/32" and spring back to flush with the bolt face when pushed in by hand, but will not come out.

Now, the rifle fires just fine. It extracts, but will not eject the shell casing.
Is this going to need to go back to Remington?
Any idea how long they may take to rectify a problem like this?

I'm open to any and all suggestions.
Uncle REALLY wants to use this rifle, even though he has others that would suffice.

What penetrating oil did you use?

    Try Kroil.

If that doesn't work, a bit of heat too.

My guess is that prev oils have shellacked and made their own "retainer ring".

    Uncle proly used WD40 ;)

I tried PB Blaster, because that's what I had on hand.
I'm a little hesitant to use heat. How much would be too much?
Could I overheat it with a propane torch?

The last thing I want to do is to take the temper out of the bolt.

Put pin back in, then soak in Kroil overnight.
Actuate a few times as before.
    If no worky.........take to smith.

The Kroil and parts flying away........proly cost half of what repair bill would be.

FWIW I've seen Kroil for sale at gunshops, but nowhere else.
    Brownell's sells it.

BTW, it does have a strong odor. Might bother some folks.

    Take the retaining pin out.

In a safe manner using a hammer and small punch, tap on the head of the ejector.

When you remove the punch it will be under pressure. Be careful.

Use a q tip without the cotton swab portion to clean the ejector hole.

    Done.

I've seen this happen a few times. Just takes a bit of persuasion to move the pieces of brass around.

I appreciate the advice, but nothing has worked.
I removed the retaining pin and even tapped on the ejector while the retaining pin was out. Nothing.
