Shooting a bunch of 1911s today (Les Baers). Cold and misty rain.

Magazines stuck in 2 of them (Metalform in one, Colt in another).

    What to do?

Can you see if the locking tab on the mag release is clear of the slot when you push it in.

You will have to push the follower down.

Did you swap out the grips for "Thin" and use the same screws.

No. I had all my 1911s re-fitted last year and went with Magpul. No problems until I started to lose screws (smith did not use purple Loctite. I had my very organzied mini bin of replacement screws. I know I did not wear my reading glasses when I replaced them. I put in the wrong size and am out of the proper size.

Going to stop by LH Industrial tomorrow and buy a dozen replacements.

I have done this before. Actually just thinner grips and not true “thin” grips can cause the same problem. There is a little gasket that can be used to keep the grip screws from both working out and being to long. Works well with G10 grips because those seem to be more problematic with grip screws backing out.
